I'll just mention here, in case I haven't yet, I bought new pans recently and was horrified at how many of these TV food people have their own lines. How the hell does a person pick one? "Hey, I think that Rachel Ray chick is hot, so her pans must be the best"? Thanks to a certain chef I don't even know and a Canadian that I want to gay marry, I now am the proud owner of a beautiful stainless steel Kitchen Aid set and neither of them told me to suck it or prompted me to add a stick of butter.
Angie, just curious. . .was the chef you didn't know working in sales at the store you bought from? That's how we got our recommendation, and I've been happy so far. He works at a very nice restaurant in a neighboring town. (A lot more upscale than where I live.) He seemed very honest, and steered us away from All-Clad a little, as he said that he wasn't sure that there was any real benefit from spending that amount on such similar pans. He knew all the theories about trace iron, etc. that you could get from that brand, etc. so we though him knowledgeable. Just wondered if other big stores hire chefs to work the pots and pans, too.
No, the chef is the husband of a friend of mine. I badgered until he gave an opinion on the Kitchen Aid set, but having a chef working in a kitchen store would be the bomb, wouldn't it?

In a biblical sense?
