I already read the old book bitching about her mother. I watched the tv show she had bitching about her mother. Alexis's only claim to fame is bitching about Martha.She grew up with nannies. She was safe, she was fed, she was warm, she was styled, in beautiful homes, the best schools..boo hoo. I have always loved Martha and her attitude toward her daughter's bitching. She agrees she was distant and worked all the time, then she shrugs, laughs and says, Alexis is entitled to her opinion. Martha has one grandkid, she paid about $50 million to get that kid, because Alexis wanted one. "MOOOOOOOOM! I want a kid!" I can see her stomping her feet and Martha going, "Hush Alexis, I'll get you one. No problem. I'll get you as many as you want." And then she proceeded to do just that and now she is spoiling the kid rotten. Alexis admits this.
I love Martha in spite of her whiny, bitchy entitled daughter. We all make mistakes. We all drop a stitch now and then. The rest of us just don't have a flock of prize sheep destined for our hermetically sealed yarn room. Christina Crawford anyone?

Exactly! As long as you have all those needs met, as a child, it's up to you to get over it and move on as an adult.
I like Martha, too. I love her magazine, so many great projects and recipes.

She needs to get over having a near-perfect childhood (or what would pass for one as far as I can see).
I hate Alexis, she made this asinine comment to PEOPLE about how she didn't want to adopt a baby because she thinks secretly every woman wants "a baby of her own". It's one thing to admit that about yourself, but to say that every woman feels that way is so ignorant.
haha but what about where she complains that her mother peed with the toilet door open and how embarrassing it was when friends came over. i had a mental picture of how that would work in my tiny house, then it occurred to me that she probably has a toilet the size of my bedroom which leads to a bathroom the size of my lounge that leads to a bedroom the size of my house, so who would notice if she was relieving herself with the dooe open? trying to sell her book by pretending to be one of us dumbfucks. what twat!!!

I have loved Martha since her first show back in the early 90s. She has taught me a lot of practical things in cooking, decorating and gardening. I have read the book that slammed her. I can see that she is probably a cold icy bitch. But she doesn't deny it. She started from a dumpy small fixer upper in the 70s to being a rich bitch.
Did she step on toes? Yes. But I still love her.
Martha can adopt me I would love the distance and the entitlement and the money and the money and the good hair and the money and all the best damn craft supplies and cookie cutters a kid could want and the money. I can't say I LOVE Martha she's not warm and fuzzy like LOVE. You have to hugely admire someone who ALWAYS has her shit together even in jail.
I'll trade moms with this bitch. Oh your mom peed with the door open? Big deal, my mother couldn't bathe alone and would call me in to sit on the toilet and talk to her every night. So. Much. Hair.
