This is a first

The BBC has decided to stop using the timeline terms BC and AD. Reverend Peter Mullen says, ''I think it's an example of the BBC trying to undermine Christianity by pushing an aggressive secularism."

This is the first time I've heard the term aggresive secularism. Is there such a thing? Aggressive indifference? Aggressive choose your own path? Aggressive seperation of church and state? Shut the fuck up. The BBC can do whatever they want. I never took AD or BC personally, it's just a time reference. They can throw in AC/DC for all I give a shit. Agressive secularism..jesus christ BC, AD and BS!

And yes, I realize I'm not British..I just like the BBC, okay? I'm an agressive secularist...LMFAO! Motherfuckingmadeupshit.

This is ridiculous. How many words can you link together and sound smart? No one really cares the meaning or knows.

I thought it was hilariously stupid.

I took some theology courses in college back in the 90's and even then none of the professors were using BC and AD. We said BCE: Before the Common Era and ACE: After the Common Era.

Actually it was probably the 80s. oops. (it took me a long time to finish school:o)

Aggressive secularism? I'm passively furious over that phrase.

I grew up as a Jehovah's Witness and they were using BCE and [A]CE in the 70's. Maybe even the 60's. They're all about keeping religion out of politics, are politically neutral but they get branded as subversive in countries around the world and many die for it. Kinda ironic that doing it right gets you ostracized by governments.

It's only "aggressive secularism" because the christians noses are out of joint because they're not No. 1 anymore. They're moaning that they're being denied their rights because they're being told to keep their faith out of everyone else's faces. Yet they are quite happy to make life miserable for homosexuals, Pagans/ anyone who doesn't love Jeebus etc. They don't realise that secularism (paradoxically) ensures that they can worship any deity they want to. Unfortunately, that means that means that the Pagans, Muslims, Pastafarians, Homosexuals, feminists etc get to have the same privileges

That's right Frimmy, it was CE and BCE. Didn't know it had been around that long. It just stuck in my mind because although I had often thought it was strange we counted time in years according to Jesus's death, I never had realized how wrong it was to acutally divide our entire existance on this planet by it. I mean, how arrogant can you get???
