I think Pat Robertson has some deep secrets, I truly do. He ain't no saint! It will come out eventually. & the little girl should get to bring the stuff, in her own way. Its her way of taking part. Priests are all dicks. & they like it!

Soooo the thing to do is just leave children who have been sexually abuse in the foster care system, where although they will probably get excellent physical and emotional care from their foster family they will have no sense of permanency and belonging. I'm speaking as a person who is in the middle of a very long wait to adopt.

We are adopting through children's aid, so the youngest we can get is 3 months since our local agency doesn't place children with permanent families until the parental rights are totally severed. We will consider any any child under the age of 3 years, but want as young as possible. We are willing to look at children with handicaps, abused children or born drug addicted, but not fetal alcohol children.
We got on the wait list in May 2011, and were able to take the required class in a city 2.5 hours away from us to speed up the process a bit, since the wait time here is about 2 years to take it in our area. We are now in the wait for our social worker to do our home study, but she won't have "time" until late fall/early winter. It's frustrating, but it's like climbing a mountain, the peak will be worth it.
People think that adoption is expensive, privately it is, but going though children's aid is free of charge. You won't get one that is "fresh out" and they may have "issues", but a child you birth might have different "issues"
About the girl who has celiac. . . why doesn't she just have a sip of the wine? It is certainly available at every Mass, and you can do one or the other, or both, depending on your own desire. It is common knowledge that you do not need to have both to participate, and having been a Eucharistic Minister, I can tell you that many people just do one or the other, not both.
If she is old enough to actually participate in communion, she can take the wine. It shouldn't be a big deal.

It seems like everybody is into blowing up smal easily resolved differences into major cases. I am so weary of it. The world has a ton of actual problems and we want to made a big deal out of a kid apn airline and autism. Well fine. Our broke state and university and health system built a multi million dollar autism research center a few yrs ago. I said o good, build it and they will come. Come they did. Autism rate went up tenfold in ten years. Let me take my finger outta my nose so I can figure out why.
