Garden break, tea break

I am SO over this house cleaning stuff. The rest can wait until later. I worked on the ugly back not-garden. I planted some shade ground cover. I think it's Pachysandra (sp?), but, I'm not sure. It wasn't marked. It's green and pretty and grows from rhizomes, I can tell. I found a locust and BIG crickets out there. Gross, gross, GROSS. I hate locusts and crickets. It's war. You ever use this bag insecticide? If you have bug phobias, try it. There are several brands. It costs about $10 bucks a bag and a bag will last me two Summers. It's a granual product. You just throw it around your house foundation. You have to re-apply after a heavy rain. It doesn't hurt toads or snakes. No more bugs get in the house. Sorry, doesn't work on spiders. I found that old metal road sign. Did my son bring that home and put it in the shed? ~Shakes head~ Enter at your own risk. Sounds about right. Tea is ready! Then I have to put in my Hollyhocks, also out there. Maybe some cone flower? And Susans? Daisies? Iris? I have plenty I could move.

Oh, DD...your spider stories freak me out. I do not like spiders. I have a covered front porch and I spray that Home Defense stuff around the corners and bases and the bottom of the doorway with this stuff. It doesn't hurt animals and it sure keeps the bugs away. I spray it around my back patio door and around the deck too. Please think about getting it. It would probably keep those brown recluse spiders out of your house. Just a suggestion but I sure do worry about you sometimes.

Awww. I'm just not afraid of spiders. They don't bother me. I fear the shit out of crickets though. Nightmare bug. DIE crickets!

I have to tell you, that wasp did me wrong! It did a lot more damage to me than the recluse. I am still mad.

Yep, that's pachysandra. I have tons of it around the house & up under the sassafrass trees. It will take over, so watch where you plant it.

Thank you for telling me! I've only seen it in books. No one has it here. I want it to take over out there. Now I have to look up sassafrass trees.

Jo, me too. HATE spiders. They need to mind their own business and stay outside! We spray and bomb too. Bomb in the fall and the spiders seem to fall away, no problems. It kills insects for 3 months, so thats awesome. I do think spray does keep the spiders away, IMO. I have the sticky spider things too. But from what I read, just vacuuming every week, including all your curtains , clearing away clutter (LOL!) and not having stacks of books or magazines or clothes around, will keep them away. Well, who doesnt have clutter? But the clutter thing, its bad fung-shui anyways. So, I need to declutter again I suppose. I need a garage. Thats alot of my problem. Not much storage. Crickets are the devil!

My vaccuum is broken and I just said to Lis, that is the problem. I have to find a new one. A broom just doesn't get under things. I have no storage. Not one closet or cupboard in this whole house. I have old pie safes and standing cabinets I keep things in. Under every table is...stuff. Plastic boxes of tools and crafting crap. Shoe boxes, etc. Spiders love that.

..at least the attic is cleaned out now. It's Lissa's new room.
