I have to update my judgement about Honey Boo Boo and her mother. I like June. Okay? I watched it because I was bored and it's on You Tube. Two episodes. I thought that I'd hate that mom because of the clips I'd seen. I liked her. She is funny as all get out and not a know it all. She knows she's 'not the most beautimous out of the box' and she's in on the joke. The whole family is likable. Honey Boo Boo has her obnoxious moments, but, no more than any other kid. She is an adorable sweet little girl who loves her family and pet pig.
I wouldn't want to spend time with them because I have ZERO interest in belly flopping in mud contests and bobbing for pig's feet. I don't like ATVs and to me, farting in public is not funny past the age of 8. They are also way too loud for me. But, different strokes for different folks and they don't hurt anyone. They seem totally candid and real. They don't put on airs for anybody and they just don't care what people think. June seems like a really good mom. They are uneducated, but, June seems interested in improving herself. I'm sorry I judged her like I did. The short clips of her were awful.

I like June. I also think she really cares for her family. Did you see when she would not let the girls swim in the polluted water, even though it was so hot? I think alot of their "redneckedness" is amplified for the show. Cracks me up.

Pat, I watched too. And whileI understand what you are saying, she ain't no Kate Gosselin, I don't think she is a great mom. I guess she is probably repeating what she knows. 17 year old pregnant teen, sleeping until one or two, cheese balls and other crap they eat made them all fat. Honey Boo is already morbidly obese. I do see the love, but I also thought, "there really are people like this out there"..also I think TLC exploits the shit outta people.
I think it's just sad that this now deemed "entertainment". Enough with the reality BS.

I didn't want to watch this show, but since you posted it I have to watch it. That little girl is cute.
In the first few minutes, they show a shelving unit with about 10 years worth of paper towels...do people really buy paper towels like that? And if the mom is 32, that means she was about 14 when she got pregnant...and the dad was 22!! Yuk. At least he's still there, I suppose. Off to watch the rest.
She's a couponer. She gets it all free. I think couponing is legal theivery and too much work, but, whatever. Most people eat crap these days. My grandkkids think crap is a meal. I can't control anyone else so why worry about it. People can do what they want. Honey Boo Boo is not morbidly obese. Geez, she's just a chub kid. Her sisters are cute, just not skinny. Seems like we're all quick to judge. I'm ashamed of myself for judging her based on TLC clips. I know TLC are money whores. I'm old enough to know better.
Just makes me sad that I have several very talented, very passionate friends who are actors and they can't get a lick of real work because the airways are full of these 'reality' shows. TLC and other networks are laughing all the way to the bank on a carny wagon.
Yep. That's so true. And they take off good shows and put on more reality where they can get away with low start pay and bad contracts. I see them all, but, only because I'm a flipper. I watch very few. I find stuff like the Kardashians sad. They have nothing to offer and teach nothing. It boggles my mind why people watch them. AND, you can find so many good people to watch on you tube if you hunt. I love watching real people who have something to teach me. Like Nancy Today and the survial and crafting people.
I still don't like that TLC makes money off of these people and that they are judged by the way they live. This is how they were raised and it is all they know. TLC has put them on so that people can laugh at them. But, I laugh at the Kardashians and the real housewives. I think they are more pathetic than Honey's family. These uptown people are supposed to know how to act.
I do too. Housewives are so worthless. Make up, fake hair and plastic boobs and their entire life is spun around maintaining that. It's hilarious that they think they're relevant.
Gimme a classic old film any day, where the screen is loaded with TALENT as opposed to CELEBRITY. I find I am reading more these evenings. I just started reading Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. Hadn't read it since High School. What have you read lately?
If you had a gardening show, I would watch it everyday. That's not flattery - that's a straight up fact. Your gardens transport the heart and mind.

I am reading Little Alters Everywhere (again) and The Lonely Polygamist by Brady Udal and Recipes From The Dump, a novel by Abigal Stone. I have one going at home, one at work and one in the car. I get a lot of reading done waiting for my mom in diff places I have to drive her.
I keep staple reading in the car trunk for emergencies. LOL. They are books by Stephen King (the women ones) and All Things Wise And Wonderful series. And of course Stienbeck collections of stories. Oh, and the Jean Auel collection. I read a lot, you'd think I could spell better.
if they make a lot of moey out of it, good on them. better they get some cash than the already stupidly dumb and wealthy kardashians and housewives. wish they would use reality shows to spread a bit of intelligence though. i know you are going to think i need knocking off my high horse. but ignorance doesnt serve to do anything but keep the masses well... ignorant. and pliable, you know - the same way religion does. its not a bad thing to promote healthy eating etc. its good for peoples health and good health is everything. ok... now slay me. sorry... just been to a funeral.
I just saw the episode and I find this family strangely honest and charming. She is a good mom, if not a little unconventional. She has a great sense of humor. Thanks for turning me on into this....Southern Georgia is.....interesting.
I was surprised she was over 300 lbs. have a SIL larger than that in the legs and arse alone. It's this mas triple chins that are so upfront ate attractive.
The kardashians are in their way more harmful to more of society than honey boo boo could ever be. The Ks make money off their fans while they tell them how to be whores.
Kate gosselin could have made money beyond the show but doesnt understand the art of promoting, only begging for another show because she wants free vacays, not so she can contribute anything. That doesn't impress producers.
I was shocked she got on that scale right on tv. Takes balls.

The girl is 5years old and 90 lbs. That is morbidly obese. Google body fat index. Kid is a couple of years away from Type 2 diabetes. And I am sure all of them have cholestrol off the charts. That is self inflicted health problems from their parent. That is child abuse. Lis is chubs too. Watch the crap you feed her.

She is 7 and on tv it said 69 lbs. Still overweight but not as obnoxiously as you exaggerated.
No, I watched it again with Lis. Boo Boo weigs 65 pounds. I don't remember ever saying anything bad about her weight or her looks. I don't pick on kids. She's cute as a bug. Lissa weighs 82 pounds and is almost as tall as I am. She's lean and lanky except for a little belly. There is nothing fat about her.
