Mary_Mary, where did you go? Was it gross because of pollution? Or just gross because everything was objectionable to "us Westerners"? (I have no desire to visit China other than seeing the Forbidden City, possibly walk the Wall).
I want a closer view what is all that space that looks like concrete? Probably concrete. Hard for me to wrap my head around the number of people in any given space. Doesn't help but to me they all look alike.

The air and water quality. It is very much like Blade Runner in some locations.
OMG, sounds horrid. I have no desire to ever go there. Never have.
