The mysterious hole is 400 feet deep! It has swallowed all the trees and caused an evacuation order for 150 residents. Officials believe The Texas Brine company may be responsible. It has closed down a highway and threatened a gas line.
HERE is the article. Man, that is something! Scary. And you'd have to wonder where else they dug that they haven't admitted yet.
This is near Jane's place. I'd say you have more than a gardening challenge there, Jane. That is freeky deeky and scary. 400 feet is all the way to swampy hell. Do you know if it gave way all at once, or was it gradual?

a texas brine company...i read the article cuz it made me wonder if the company was tied to fracking and i saw nothing there about that....we have companies around here, from texas, involved in fracking and they inject brine water into the earth.....a friend had a texas company doing seismic tests in her area setting off little earth quakes!! so they could do fracking.....if this is tied to fracking it just shows how evil it is.....
even if it's not tied to fracking, WTF? and isn't there more and more sink holes opening up around the world lately???
It's a big story, so I guess we'll eventually find out. It was on Yahoo's front page.
Saw that sink hole online a couple days ago & wondered how close that was to Jane. Scary shit.
Tia, do you remember the series of earth quakes late last fall around the Youngstown area? Speculation it was caused by the brine injection wells at the same site.
Crazy bastards just dig will nilly, don't they?
Are we going to see on the news one of these days about The Sinkhole That Ate Louisiana?
yes, there was an earthquake new year's eve in the youngstown area that i felt!!!! shook my house!!! i had no clue what had happened, i posted on FB 'what the fuck, my house just shook' and someone suggested i go to the US geo site (can't remember official name) but it lists earthquakes and you could report if you felt it and sure as shit, there it was!!! and they DID determine that i WAS caused due to fracking!!!!!! fucking frackers!!!! damn repub governors allowing this shit to go on....they need to live by it and DRINK THE WATER after it's been poisoned!!
Back in 1975 my dad lived in Lakeland, FL. He told us about sinkholes and we didn't know what he was talking about. It was all new to us. I don't think he ever heard of them till he lived down there. Nowdays, lots of seismic activity is man made. We usually check the HAARP site to see whats going on there before we believe the news. Which I never believe anyway. Fukishima was a man made debacle as well. Tia is right, it's evil. It's pure evil. That Japan mess was way more than we were told. It was very politically motivated. It was deliberate. I trust no one. Esp the media. & gov't.
rox.

so scary.... they are fracking here too. how do you stop this? you cant, they do what they like. politicians and multinationals.... i wish they would all fall down a sinkhole.
Sorry I wasn't able to answer you yesterday, I've been laid up as the "old people" say.
That is a natural salt dome. The oil companies use them to store oil. I don't think there is any digging other than to place the pipes. The brine company knew there wasa something wrong back in 2011. That was stated in one of the articles.
At the beggining of summer, we had a long drought. That's something we don't often have. Bubbles were sighted in the nearby bayou. These became more plentiful and the people started complaining. Some of these people had already been moved--house and all-- from a area close by. I can't remember what that was all about because my husband was in and out of the hospital at that time and I didn't take much notice. I assume it was along the same lines (without the sink hole). It was also closer to a Dow plant and another oil plant. All this is along the same highway. And when this highway is closed off, people have to take a detour which is about 6o miles depending on where you are goin. It's a big head ache in more ways than one. The people in the first problem were bought out and moved. Some off them moved there houses to this area. This is a much bigger settlement. The people who live there called it heaven on earth for hunters and people who like to fish. There are many really, really nice homes. These are people with more money than the first group. They will not go quietly like the first group.
Man, that would suck. Imagine not being safe in your own house? I'll bet there's more coming.
