A mother horse saves her foal
A mother mare walked five days across the moores to bring her foal to people. She was dying and the foal was young and not weaned yet. She managed to get her baby to the people on the farm and she died the next day. The foal is being hand raised. HERE is more pics, if you'd like to see. I thought it was a touching story. I don't know who these 'experts' are, but, they're probably right that this mare knew what she was doing. I don't know much about horses, but, I have noticed that when their back end shows bones like that (and they aren't starved), they don't have long. It's usually a sign of age. I'll bet she was a beauty in her youth. Animals are just amazing, aren't they? How can anyone say they don't have emotions? That mare was a much better mother than some humans in the news.

Aww. Thats a precious story. We had a female cat that was tiny, always thin and small. She was missing for 5 days, in a hot summer. One day she wandered back in our yard , she was trying to stay on her feet but was was very wobbly. She had left a half grown kitten at our house when she went missing. He was twice her size and still nursed! But as she stood there wobbling, bones almost poking thru her back, she fell over and never got back up. She died. The heat was like this summers heat, she didnt stand a chance. But she made it back to see her big baby one last time. We loved her so much and her kitten was a beautiful boy and was huge, we called him Mufasa aka: Peanut, because he was such a tiny newborn. But a mother animal has some sort of need to be with their babies, even if it kills them. You are right, animals are better mothers. I believe animals know everything that we DON'T know!! & we are just too stupid to relaize it. Horses are so special.

Do you have horses? I've had several, but, I'm no expert by any stretch. I like horses though. Most of them anyway.
Cried into my coffee after reading this. It's no wonder I enjoy the animals company more than my fellow "humans."
Yeah. I like hanging out with critters.
I always worry about horses in the movies, like when they are in that chariot race in Ben Hur. Some of them did flips, you know some had to have been killed. It upsets me. They cancelled an HBO series last year because so many horses got killed during production. Gawd, that would have broken my heart.
Ok, I feel better knowing no horses or actors died during Ben-Hur. Just the director, Sam Zimbalist died at 57 from a heart attack on the set. The movie was a very stress related movie. & no Heston didn't wear a wrist watch during the chariot race! Remarkable Wikipedia write up. I loved reading all that. I may have to watch some of that tonight. Have a good evening ladies.

You're killing me. You look up as much crap as I do. Oh, I've seen that Janis bio, BTW. I've seen them all. Which one was it?
