Don't you dare call it Pink Slime

source.. "Beef Products Inc. sued ABC News, Inc. for defamation Thursday over its coverage of a meat product that critics dub "pink slime," claiming the network damaged the company by misleading consumers into believing it is unhealthy and unsafe." Ohhhhhh, really? I don't think there are many consumers who believe that ground up bits of scrap meat and offal are harmful. If they did, no one would have ever bought hot dogs. What we object to is the chemicals you assholes pour on it before you expect us chumps to eat it and feed it to our children. You pour Amonia on it, you assholes! Have you ever taken a whiff of Amonia? Well, don't. It will knock you on your ass. It is not edible, it's poison. You bastards. How dare you say it's a small amount of Amonia! How dare you! Why should we eat any Amonia?? Seriously, Pink Slime is the least of your worries. I hope you get shut down by a judge and get shut down forever from your crummy manufacturing processes. You deserve to sit in a jail cell eating your own crap and by that I mean, Pink..SLIME. Bite me.

I get so mad at what is allowed in our food. So mad. You just can't avoid all of it, but, I bought an antique meat grinder. It works fine and is kind of fun.

or you can go to the butcher, buy a lump of beef and then ask him to mince it for you! lol

I rarely use it. Only for casseroles once in awhile. I could live without it.

That sh** is the reason a McD's burger sits in your stomach like a rock and makes you feel bad, like Ugh...why did I eat that?! A rock, made of garbage and ammonia. Zero nutritional value, like eating a greasy paper bag. I used to have a friend that would always order a McD's cheeseburger w/o the burger. I thot she was weird. Now I get it!

I forgot about that!! My g'ma always made hamburger gravy & biscuits. That was good!! She could make an old shoe taste good tho and she had real meat to cook with back then.

have you checked to see how many calories there are in a mcburger? thats the killer. the daily intake for an average sized woman should be 2000 calories a day. those burgers are about 500 calories so thats a quarter of your daily eating allowance gone on something that tastes like shit, makes you feel sick and has absolutely no nutrition.

SOS SOS SOS imagine that! Salute!

I always thought non sliced meat (Budding) looked a little too pressed and not enough meat grain or marbling. Like polish ham. Like the mystery meat on cheap pizza's. Here is to baloney gravy on pancakes.

Sausage gravy on bagels, english muffins, corn bread, biscuits, home fries, rice, or potato pancakes. quality comfort food yum yum.

Shit is shit even if it hasn't hit the fan, ground or john.

"all kinds of ingredients in food products that can be falsely characterized as unappetizing when viewed out of context. When people see the processes of cheese manufacturing, wine making and the production of the most high quality gourmet processed meats, some of the stages in the process are less than appetizing."

Yes the public knows about bugs and mouse turds in packaged/can foods, and slime in the ice machine. Doesn't make it right.

Ammonium hydroxide is included in the USDA's list of Safe and Suitable Ingredients Used in the Production of Meat, Poultry, Fish and Egg Products. I am okay with it if it makes the food safe and keeps me healthy.

Label it correctly the public has a right to know. Enough of the mystery and witchcraft of we don't know what we don't know unless we are divined.

"Carmel and coloring added"

Cola, Diet Coke, and Pepsi, Diet Pepsi contain high levels of 4-methylimidazole (4-MI), a known animal carcinogen. The carcinogen forms when AMMONIA or AMMONIA and sulfites are used to manufacture the “caramel coloring”.

CSPI requested to the Food and Drug Administration to revoke its authorization for caramel colorings that contain 4-MI, and in the interim to change the name of the additive to “ammonia-sulfite process caramel coloring” or “chemically modified caramel coloring” for labeling purposes.

“Coke and Pepsi, with the acquiescence of the FDA, are needlessly exposing millions of Americans to a chemical that causes cancer,” products tested had 145 to 153 micrograms (mcg) of 4-MI in two 12-ounce cans. To put those levels into context, the state of California has a 29-microgram benchmark for 4-MI. Levels above that in a serving of food or beverage may be required to bear a warning notice.

Ammonia and ammonium hydroxide are among several antimicrobial agents that may be used on beef, fish and poultry and other processed foods without labeling disclosure.

What products are antimicrobial treated? poutry slime, pork slime, turkey slime, fish slime,
processed beans, nuts and vegetables, Cheese, Deli products, processed foods, canned foods, soy milk, processed egg products, tofu bean curds, broths and boullion cubes to name a few. Anything you didn't grow or process yourself, or is not fresh or whole.

Slime was once only used in pet food and cooking oil.

Grind your own meats, process your own foods, or be lazy like me eat what your eyes say looks good or hasn't already killed your neighbor.

amonia is harmless.

Well, it is really toxic - but it also boils off really, really quickly.

Oh - and your body produces it. A lot. Every fucking second.
