Locks of love being removed

source The locks of love decorating the Ponte Milvio bridge on the river Tiber are being removed. The Mayor says they are damaging the bridge. The locks are hanging from chains, which means they can be removed without breaking them or the spell/symbol they represent. If the city is famous for these locks and it means so much to thousands of people, why can't they save them and make an art installation out of them? These are things city workers do that I just don't understand. It would only take a couple of hours to install some posts and hang them somewhere near. I know there are artists and others who would offer to do it for free. City workers everywhere are too busy killing Honeybees to deal with it. Yes, that was mean. But, really Rome? You're letting us down. The locks are art and love. The world could use more of that, if you ask me.

I agree 110%! Those are very cool and mean alot to those that left them. If they were salvaged for art, that would be great. But that metal is worth alot it was probably all melted down for manhole covers. LOL...but this sux.
