O my stars and garters - look at Miss Lis! She looks adorable! I LOVE the kitten heels; especially that sweet keyhole peep toe accent. I so appreciate that she is rocking her own style. I remember being bold with certain outfits at home, but had to grow some cajones to eventually wear it to school. At this stage of my life, I wear what I please, so long as it fits and covers what it should! Haha
I see a budding fashion designer in your future! You tell her that Mary Mary says," Lis, you go wiff yo' bad seff!" : )
Censor, schmensor. I know you have a good eye for color and texture and letting her keep her style going, but editing is good! Coco Chanel said that just before one leaves her house, she should go back and remove one accessory or small article and then the outfit is just right.
Mary Mary, I think of that Chanle quote everyday before I leave my house. I wear lots of bracelets and I love necklaces and rings and scarves. & belts. so I just go..hmmm? what can I lose here??? It's usually a scarf or belt. But it's true. & Lissa looks adorable. How fun! My daughter always had a dress up bag filled with old ladies gloves, hats, boas & scarves, wigs and purses, hi-heel shoes and jewelry...at her parties we would have a contest to see who could put on the most clothes and accessories in 1 minute, talk about a fun time! I got all of it at garage sales and its still around somewhere in the attic. Best thing you can ever get a girl is something that works her imagination and free spirit. My daughter all thru high school was very ndividual and a cool dresser, still is. She got voted "Most Unique" in her high school graduation class. I swear, you must let kids do their own thing. I always did and I still love to accessorize and decorate. It helps one develop a sense of balance, taste, color and fashion. This is awesome. It will help her all her life, trust me. She will probably be in some kind of art or design in school and professionally.
HELP! I need ideas for an adult Harry Potter b'day party, my son's gf is throwing him a themed party next month and needs ideas. Any good ones out there? **My kids didn't grow up having b'day parties, as Jehovahs Witnesses, but they did grow up with Harry Potter and love it. We have not been JW's for over 10 years now and have been trying to make up for it since. My biggest regret in life. I think she's trying to help him relive his childhood a bit and yet make it adult. I already found a recipe for Butterbeer jell-o shots! They are going all out, costumes, everything. So anything will be helpful. xoxo LOL
My great niece is 7 and with her, it's all about the shine and sparkle. My sister and I have gotten her interested in thrift stores. (Which is a good thing because she likes to buy.) An she can whip together an outfit like a pro. Do we have some future fashionistas going here? Are all girls that age like that?
Jane, I used to have a friend that never let her kids do art at home, she never allowed them to choose their own clothes, till they were nearly grown and she always told them they needed more make up, to lose weight, yadda-yadda...so, no, not all girls GET to be like this. & my ex-friends 2 girls are neither creative nor are they friendly people. They are both hateful adult bitches who made fun of my daughter for her creativity, but they sure had fun playing dress up with her at my house and doing fun art with her, at my house! But their mom was the kind that never allowed them to make a mess. That shows up on kids later. It really harms them and their potential. Never deny a kid their fun and art! & music!!
Maybe you already know about these websites, but here you go for reference: http://www.officialharrypottercostumes.com/ http://www.buyharrypottercostumes.com/ http://www.squidoo.com/best-harry-potter-costumes
And of course, Michael's: http://www.michaels.com/
Good luck; sounds like an awesome party! Save me a Butterbeer Jell-o shot!
Lis looks amazing. I can't get over how mature she's become. I've officially become old saying that!
She's a young lady and she definetly has her own style. She has more character in her pinky than most people have in their whole body. Love that girl and the stories you share about your adventures together to pieces.
Zoe just walked by as I was looking at Lissa's pictures and said "wow!". I detected a hint of envy ;-) They have to wear uniforms at their public school so no creativity during the week (other than hair at times...). She looks great and happy, I love her style!
Thanks to you all. Melissa, you have to go junk shopping with Zoe and get her some play heels. (And send me a pic) These are 60's stuff and cost fidy cents.

I will. She comes up with it herself, and I, sadly, have to censor her a little. For school anyhow.
