Bad ideas..good ideas

Fuck black nail polish. I figured I'd better try it before the trend totally bit the dust. Well, it should bite the dust because it sucks. It's distracting as hell, every time I try and do something, bam, it's in my face. You can't pull your eyes away from it.  My skin is too white for that black polish. It about blinds me. I tried to gussy it up and tone it down with gold crystals and that made it worse. The texture of them is awful feeling and they get caught in my hair. Eww. I ended up scraping them off (they were hard to remove) and sanding down the paint and re-painting them plain black. But, I hate it. It gets in your cuticles and on the sides and it takes an hour or more to soak and pick that shit off. You can have that black nail polish, I think it's vile. Lissa likes it with white zebra stripes though, which I've gotten pretty good at. So, I won't throw it away. But, I hate those stupid animal prints. All of them. On anything. I think they're ugly as fuck.

The good idea I had was taking apart an old afghan that had a hole in it and re-using the yarn to make a hat. I came out almost perfect. I think I'm getting better at this crochet stuff. I put ear flaps on it and braids. It fits Lissa perfect and she likes it. She'd rather have a pink one, but, I didn't have any pink. The used yarn was all curly, but, I ran it across the heat stove and it straightened right out. It was fast. It only took one movie and half a sit-com to make, so now when I get more yarn I can make her a bunch of them. She loses hats constantly. This way, I'll have a different hat to shove on her bare head every morning. It's still snowing like hell here. I'll bet I can make them a lot cuter too, maybe some animal ones. With faces and ears. The hats like this in the store cost around $20 bucks as opposed to zero dollars when I find old yarn projects on my mom's stupid garage sale porch.

Anyway, there ya go. Time wasters. More hats..less obnoxious nail polish. I'm searching the polish boxes for plain old beige with white for French tips. I fucked up enough for a week. I need something that doesn't hurt my eyes, even if it is boring.

Zebra nails. Lissa loves these and you can do them in any colors. They are the easiest design I know, once you get the hang of it. Just use a thin liner brush for the stripes and start from the side and pull in to the center. You can't mess them up. She thinks she's hot stuff when I do this for her. It looks good on short kid nails too. That kid loves having her nails done. I wonder where she gets it?

Spanks! You want one? I'll make you one too. I'll make Dan a kitty cat one and he has to wear it or my feelings will be hurted. LOL. I owe him one anyway.

PS, a friend just told me if the weather holds, she's going to the city next week. She asked me if I needed anything...yeah, yarn! She loves those big craft stores so maybe I'll get some supplies. But, the last time she brought me something, I'd ask for oragami paper. You should see what I got. LOL. Yeesh. I do think she understands yarn though.

My fave colors are Aqua and Orange. Or Aqua and Red. Or just red with little devil horns or kitty ears!

Let's do a swap then. I will make something for you! How exciting. Let's email our contact info to each other again.

You just made my day!

Ha ha.."spanks" :) . I said 'spank you' to a cashier at Walmart once, she didn't even hear me.

Great job on the hat!

Black nail polish would seem like a good idea but, as you said, it is so distracting and hell to get off!

The hat is brilliant :)

Casey and I always say spanks. When we microwave anything we sing 'Micodawave now' to the tune of 'give it away now' by the red hot chili peppers. Families are weird.

Mary, ha! I finally met someone else who understands my love of warm, misunderstood orange! I'd paint everything in here orange if I wasn't so lazy. It makes me happy..plus it makes your skin look good.

Wow! I love the hat!
I learned to crochet when I was very young, and hated it and thought it was pointless, as there was really nothing productive that I could do with it, as a child. Later in life I retaught myself. I could not, on my best day, pick it up and just teach myself to do patterns like you have. You amaze me, Pat. The hat is something that most people would need a detailed pattern to do, but not you! A hat is something that I would probably buy a pattern for and then totally fail at. Scarves, baby blankets, flat pattern doilies, etc. are things that I can manage.
