Babies...laughing
I read THIS ridiculous article today about the world's biggest comprehensive study on why babies laugh. How much are they paying this dude? They laugh because something tickles them, sometimes literally. Sometimes, not. They laugh because the world is joyous at that moment.
Someone should do a study of why it makes people like me so happy to see a baby laugh. I have a couple of videos marked in my fav files and when I have a really bad or painful day, I go there. I don't even know these babies, it just cracks me up. And no, Mr. Scientific Study, most babies do not laugh at 18 months or older (self awareness or not), they laugh much earlier. I am not a scientist, I've just known a shit load of babies. They usually start laughing around 6-7 months. The first time you hear your baby belly laugh, it shocks you. You're not expecting it. You never are. It sounds too low and gutteral to be your baby. But, if you repeat whatever meaningless, UNfunny thing you've done to set them off, there are moments of reward which cannot be measured. Because nothing in this world is as happy as a baby laughing.
HERE are quads laughing at dad and HERE is just a little guy cracking up for no apparent reason, other than being with someone he loves. I can't explain it, they just make me happy. I really like babies. Shhh, don't tell anyone. It will ruin my reputation.
Have you seen funnier baby laughing vids? Tell me!

The quad one won 250,000 on America's Funniest Videos, I think. They also had a few episodes on Discovery Health when they were around 4-5 or so..I like baby laughs sometimes, sometimes it really irritates me.
Thats a feel good video! I love laughing babies! Sometimes you just need a big dose of baby love!
There was a video on youtube a little while back with twin babies talking to each other. It was baby twin talk---they understood each other---or maybe not. But they were funny and sweet to watch. I also like to watch kittens and puppies play. It's the innocent acts that draw me in. I also like the smell of a baby. To me, it's very calming. (Not so much with a dirty diaper.)
Corina, when they laugh it wipes out all immediate memories of the time they puked down your back or had an explosive poop in your lap.
Connie, I know I do. Babies are incapable of being fake. I think that's why I like them so much.
Jane, I saw that! They were adorable. Twins fascinate me. I always wondered what it would be like to raise twins. I also consider mother's of twins some sort of warrior. I also finally understand why old people touch babies faces. I never understood that, but, now I have to stop myself from reaching out to babies I don't know to touch their face. It's odd, but, I want to 'read' the baby. That probably makes no sense, but, it's some kind of connection. Maybe to where they came from. They're so new.
