Fergie's Leprachaun

Fergie dressed up her and Josh Duhamel's son for a St. Paddy's day party. Axl made a fine little Leprechaun, he's very cute. Most babies wouldn't leave the hat on though. We found a cute green T-shirt (Lissa's size) in the used store for a buck, it said, 'kiss me, I'm Irish' and I dug out some green barrettes. That's as fancy as we got. Lis was happy with it. She asked me what the holiday was all about and I said, ummm, you drink green things, eat corned beef and cabbage and wear green or someone can pinch you. Those are the only facts my brain could spit out. So much for trivia.

I had my corned beef and cabbage last week on rueben samwiches, so I'm done with that. I may pick up a half a cabbage and a couple of taters today, only because that sounds good. Boiled with butter, salt and pepper. Yum. It's sort of gross smelling while it cooks, but, I've always liked it. I also like raw cabbage 'chips' as a snack with tomato juice 'dip'. Is that weird? So, Happy St. Patrick's Day. Do you celebrate it? Do you have green on? Are you Irish?

I'm not Irish, but ever since Andy was small, I've been telling him that on Saint Patrick's Day, we are 100% Irish. I am wearing a Irish for a day button, shoes with a green flower on the front, and very shortly will be getting out the green beads and a silver and green plastic Tiara with a shamrock on it.
Dinner will be corned beef and cabbage with red potatoes, home-made soda bread, and pistachio/ semi-sweet chocolate chip cupcakes with cream cheese frosting with green sprinkles. In the past two or three years, I have not always continued the Irish (Chieftans) music throughout the evening.
I think it's my son's favorite holiday dinner of the year. Tomorrow will be corned beef hash.
I will have to look around a little. Last summer I bought a set of shamrock lights at a garage sale. They couldn't have been more than a dollar or so. If I have the energy, I will find a place to hang them up. The door decorations have been up for days.
I wish I felt better for this. I was prescribed my fourth course of antibiotics in the last 5 or 6 weeks this morning. I just can't get rid of the sore, yucky throat and swelling in there. It just exhausts me, too. I can't really remember what it feels like to be well. The cough has been with me for over 4 months.
Have a good St. Pat's Day, Pat.

Not a whole lot of irish anything going on here. Little girl is now wearing as much green as she could find in her clothes drawers and thats about it! This town is mainly italian, croatian and hispanic(such as myself). Hubs is a combo of norwegian/swedish type of background. He's not even sure.

Christina - any chance to wear a tiara - do it!

We wore green today. That's about as Irish as it got around here.

Btw - you were right. The dogs don't have rabies! Your comments made me feel better. I just hate to see any dogs put down. I really think it was a fluke but I can't take the chance that something like that could happen to another family.

Connie, too right on the tiara! Yes!

Erin, glad to hear that, but, I still wouldn't want them in my neighborhood. Or their owner either.

I goofed. My tiara had very small shamrocks, and large letters that say "Irish Princess".
The lights never went up.
Feeling better, though I accidentally sat on my very sparkly gold and bling Las Vegas tiara, and broke it. I think it's too cheap to repair. Makes me sad. I wore it through Christmas dinner with my family. Nose in the air despite the sometimes slightly snarky comments. Oh well, I'll keep a watch out for a replacement at garage sales.

Why does it say "child" on his bum?
