Meet the world shortest Cat

The world's shortest Cat is a Munchkin Cat named Cye. His owner says that Munchkin's are bred to have genetic mutations, including short stature. Well, okay then. We have a shitload of weird cats here, like one eyed pirates, no earred, bob tailed, three legged...but, it's either birth defects or accidents victims we ended up with in strays. Some of the defects are sort of cute, but, I wouldn't breed them on purpose.  But, the Munchkin cat is pretty frickin' cute, even if he is odd. Look at his tiny legs! Those short legs sure wouldn't serve him well if he didn't have a good home. HERE is vid of him if you'd like to see him in action. Would you actually buy one of these Munchkins? If one showed up here, it would be as welcome as all the other goofy Cats we have, but, I sure wouldn't pay money for one. Would you?

We once has a Scottish Fold cat show up here. Until my daughter told me what it was, I just thought it had deformed ears. We never found it's owner, so my daughter took it and found it a good home. It was real cute, but, I had no clue it was some fancy breed. Breeders are weird, if you ask me. What's wrong with plain old Cats anyhow? They were good enough for the Egyptians to worship.

Scottish Fold Cat...another breeder's delight. Hmm. He looks like somebody ironed his head. What happens to the kittens who don't come out with the perfect 'genetic mutations'? Do breeders destroy them, or what?

FUCK animal breeders. There are enough cute-as-hell cats and dogs,in shelters across the world, sadly waiting for their forever homes.
And don't even get me started on the scumbags that run puppy and kitten mills. Grrrrrr!

Why would you purposely breed something with a genetic defect? It would be like purposely trying to get dwarf children.

Give me animals any day. People are fucking idiots and getting dumber by the day.

You both got me. I have no idea. The thought of paying money for an animal makes me laugh.

My son's friend paid $600 for a white munchkin. And I have ti admit it is so cute you just want to squeeze it. But I still worry about the hips and bones for when it gets older. Will it have trouble?

Oh...and it has long fur. I don't know if it's considered a persian munchkin or what. It looks like a white wig when it is curled up on the floor.

We paid for our doggies, and had plenty of issues with both. I think breeding for short legs like on the Munchkin, is a bad idea. I would think that would tend to leave them open to back and hip problems, but haven't researched it, so I don't really know.

I agree with Mary Mary and Miss Tia.
Poor kitties.

People have been deforming dogs for much longer. It's a shame that now the cat people are at it as well. At least this defect shouldn't cause the poor cat any pain. Take a look at this or just google the name of the TV show. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedigree_Dogs_Exposed I've had some "purebred" dogs over the years but they were always somebody's cast-off. Puppy mills are a horror.
