Footage of the North Dakota tornado
I'm so fascinated by the tornadoes. Are you? Now that everyone and their dog has a vid camera, we're getting some amazing storm footage. That tornado that hit North Dakota injured 9 people and tore the hell out of some areas. Here some guys are filming it..in a trailer park! I can't think of a worse place to be during a twister. I'm in the same boat though. No basement. My plan is and has always been to outrun it in the car. That's worked out quite well in the daytime, but, at night it's scary as hell. You can't see them. You can hear them though. The only thing you can do then is throw a mattress over your kid and hope for the best. Still, the law of averages is on my side and we've already been hit here. So, hey, I still like them. They're amazing. Every time the siren goes off, we run outside with the cameras. It's a tornado alley sport.
Go to You Tube and type in North Dakota tornado and you'll find a ton of mind blowing videos.

Shaking my head over here. I don't think I would be so giggly and sitting there. I would be crapping my pants and probably crying like a baby...lol It was weird how it just stopped moving. And how it just dropped down and turned massive an just a couple of minutes. Tornadoes freak me out and I live in Michigan...lol
They sure affect people in different ways, I know. Some people are terrified, some people chase them. I'm afraid I'm a chaser.
Tornadoes used to fascinate me until the 2011 tornado outbreak. I live in Alabama and 246 people died here that day. That day still seems surreal to me. I actually saw the last one that came through that night. It was not on the ground, but hit the ground two miles from me and 32 people were killed. I lost friends and loved ones that day. The destruction was and still is unbelievable.

I'm sorry. We haven't had a bad one hit directly in a long time, but, I do remember the last one and how devastating it was. I hope you have a basement.
Unfortunately, I live in a mobile home and therefore do not have a basement, so any time we have an advanced warning of even possible strong thunderstorms, we go to a hotel. My mother is 75 Y/O, so I get her to safety before the weather gets too bad. Hotels are not always safe, but at least they are safer than a mobile home.

Wow. I could never do that, we get way too many storms here. I live in tornado alley.
I remember watching the path of all those tornadoes in 2011. They just kept hitting all through Mo., Miss., Ala. Since then I've watched the storm chaser shows that were made about them, some more than once. It's just something you can't take your eyes off. Hurricanes are distructive, but at least you can prepare for them---if you have enough sense to listen to the warnings.
