Alissa..message to Marina
Lissa got a drawing from Connie's daughter Marina. They aren't far apart in age, but. they are far in distance. Lissa loves having a real friend in another place and when she opened up the drawing Marina send her, she just went wild over it. "Grandma, look! OMG, Marina is SOOO talented!" I totally agree. She really has proportions down perfectly and the drawing has such personality. I told Lis we'd find a frame for it and hang it in her room. I thought it would be cute to find yard sale frames and give them to her friends to fill with drawings of their favorite animal. That would make one awesome wall. I doubt too many of them have Marina's skill level, but, that's okay. It's the thought and the fun that count.
Thanks you so much, Marina and Connie. We love your mail. Lissa is working on a drawing to send back. She wants it to be perfect. It will probably be a fashion drawing. She calls this her 'July outfit'.
PS, I am taking the tent and camping crap down today and getting it packed up. That's the mess there. We're going on our first real camping/fishing trip in one week. I am intimidated already. I am not a camping girl, I am an AC and indoor plumbing girl. I also am grossed out by touching worms. Eww. Lis says I have to be brave. Eww. I'll try.

Why do young teen-ish girls always pose that way? LOL. I have pics of myself at 13 and I posed exactly like that. It's so funny when you are older and see it. I just thought I was so cool, I suppose. I think her outfit is cute! And that drawing is fabulous. I'd have to frame it too.

You should have seen Marina's face when she saw you posted her drawing! Priceless! A great big braces filled smile! She's glad Lissa likes it. I was looking for an art class to send her to this summer, specific to drawing but could not find one that was for her age group.
Thank you for posting it. She looks forward to receiving Lissa's fashion drawing!
Rox, she wasn't posing. She was mad because I wanted a pic. She usually poses like a total duck lipped fool, so this is an improvement. The outfit was Marina's, Lis was thrilled. She has time for Marina anytime, but, apparantly I irritate her. The feeling is mutual today.
PS, even the shoes were Marina.s. You gotta love a kid who shares. It's awesome.
Connie, I wasn't BSing for blog sake. The kid went wild screaming over that drawing, she's crazy about it. Marina really has a gift. You know, I was an art teacher. I can look on You Tube and search out some appropriate vids for her. I think I know what she needs. Soon she'll be selling her work for big bucks.
That is a pretty cool looking cat!! I'd be screaming too, it's very nice!
I really hope I've spent my last night camping. It's either too hot or too cold, always dirty, and I always get bug bitten. Poo. Give me AC, TV, and a toilet.
That is a great drawing! Marina is very talented. She could be a great artist.
I haven't gone camping in years, but wouldn't mind going again someday. With all the birds, it might be a little difficult, but maybe someday, anyway.
Years ago, when our son was still in scouting, we went camping for the first time in a long time. We made wienies over the campfire, and he said "wow!!!! Mom! You are the best cook ever! This is how food is supposed to taste!" So funny. Just hot dogs on sticks.
If we go again, we will find a way to have a camper or trailer. I am too old to intentionally sleep on the ground. I need a few comforts to make the vacation a success.
