Found in the trash by the road, two big flower pots, two bags of old dish towels and dish cloths. I love those old towels. I hate the new ones, they suck shit. I'll bet there was 20 towels in those bags! And I'd been looking all over for a pot like that red one. I looked all over town. That is so weird that I found it, free in the trash. There was also a nice high chair. I wonder if I should go get it, in case the new baby needs it at my house?
At a sale, I found the most beautiful box of pristine old linens. OMG, they are so old and perfect. I got a lace table cloth and all kinds of just pretty girly things. They're gorgeous! Also scored an old derby and another old hat. Those are cool.
This has to be the best junk I've scored in ages! Look at him, OMG, he's adorable. The lady said, he's really old, I have to have some money for that.' Shit. Then she decided $5 bucks would do. I got him for five bucks! I hate to tell you what I would have paid, because I fucking LOVE him. He's thick ceramic, 1950's, about two feet tall. He looks right at home here, for now. And no, I didn't take the lampshade that goes on his head. He's left that life behind. Spread the magic, dude, spread the magic.

THAT was a lamp? I wanna see him be a f'g lamp! But I didn't even know till you said that. He's amazing. I love HIM!!! Great steal. & yes, he's worth a bunch of money. I was just in a mid century shop that specializes in lamps and furniture and dishes. He would have been well over $100 in there. My grandma had a pair of black African ladies with big baskets on their heads for lamps. Fabulous. I still remember dusting them. They were big. And she had the shiny black panther stalker planter on top of her TV. huge ass orange ashtrays. My gawd. That stuff is worth a fortune now. And Melamine dishes? Forget about it. We had them all. Melamac. The speckled kind. Priceless. Those dish towels are a treasure. I love love old linens. And tablecloths with fruit prints on them, bright colors. Beautiful. And becoming popular again.

I still find that Melamac stuff here real cheap. Do you collect it? Because I see it a lot. I remember when EVERYONE had the panther on their tv set. They go for a lot now. It's a seperate category, that television art. I collect the 50's and 60's glass grapes. They just make me smile. I love the orange ones, as you can imagine. I have a lot of fruit print linens too. Love those. Now, I finally have a house to put this stuff in!
PS, I also collect the jade green Ray Jane pattern dishes. Thank goodness I found a whole set before Martha Stewart discovered it. Now, you can't get it, unless you have money to burn. I got all mine for $2 bucks or less each. They've been packed away for years. Now, I have a house AND a cabinet for them. I am so excited. I want to make it a real, old grandma's house with everything authentic and usable.
Man what a score! He looks like he's always been there.
Did he have a pole coming out of his head to put the shade on? If not, wouldn't the shade cover most of him?
We had a black panther TV light that sat on top of the TV. It was more light a night light but it was made just like the planter but with an opening in the back.
We had the Melamac plates but what I remember the most were the aluminum tumblers with bright colors. The blue was always my favorite. When you put ice in them, they would get icy cold and swet a lot. And speaking of aluminum, who got there tongue caught on the ice trays? I must have been real stupid when I was young because I never learned.
I envy the kitchen towels. I never have enough.
