Peter Rabbit party for the baby Prince

source
Prince Georgie will celebrate his first birthday with a Peter Rabbit themed party thrown by his maternal 'middle class' grandparents. The Middletons are offering George's invitation on their website to anyone wishing to copy. I think it's perfect. Peter Rabbit and the illustrations that go with that book are so sweet and adorable, just like baby George. A first birthday is a milestone where babies get to squeeze cake and hug other babies. Their parents get to take lots of cute photos and hose them off. I get sick of reading about crazy over the top parties for babies who will never remember them and of themes like Transformers and Spiderman that the kid doesn't even understand. Let them be sweet for this short time in their lives and enjoy sitting in some cake, with Peter Rabbit. Just don't read them the story, it's a little scary. Keep it simple, Grandma and Grandpa Middleton. The Queen may come to your party, that's true, but, she just wants to laugh at George and eat some cake like everyone else. She's seen it all, she won't be impressed with a roller coaster or exotic petting zoo.

He is such a little cutie. Kudos to the Middletons for hosting this party. They have to know it will be crazy with all the nutcases trying to 'see' the festivities. And heaven forbid, the paparazzi.

I don't know why I was surprised that it has already been a year. I hate how fast times passes.

It's crazy how much he looks like his dad when he was this age. I like the low-key birthday idea. It think it takes a stronger will to maintain a less pretentious lifestyle when you have so much.

Love it! I love a simple first birthday. We did that with Baby Billy - just family. It's for the parents anyways. I really like them. They seem normal, which is amazing given the life they lead. And that baby is so cute. I just want to kiss all over those cheeks!

What, no ferris wheels, no roller coasters, no teepees? It's no Special K(ardashian) birthday and Kanye isn't dressing George in blah colors. Let the real royals show him how it's done! With style and grace. Let Georgie dig into that cake and run free for a while. He looks like a 1 yr. old should look and he's not pushing away from his mom. That's a happy child!

Erin, we need a pic of Baby Billie, if you don't mind. He must be getting big by now. But he will always be Baby Billie.

He does look a lot like his dad at that age! He is a cutie!
I like the way they are handling the birthday party. It has a baby appropriate theme, and will mostly be family. That's perfect!
We did a family party for Andy. One of the local chain stores would make an extra baby-cake if you ordered your one year birthday cake through them. A single layer, round 8 inch cake. So he had his very own cake to play with. It was perfect.
We did big birthdays later, and they were fun until the parents stopped hanging out and the kids got out of control. When that happens the whole thing goes downhill quick.

Carole has class. She picked just the right theme with just the right feel to it.

I like the way they are keeping it real.

You can't beat a baby sitting in a cheap cake for entertainment. You just can't.

My sons nursery was Peter Rabbit. I still have all the decor in my cedar chest and all the books are something I collected for a long time before I had him. I have all the Royal Doulton figurines and music boxes. I was just thinking the other day that I bet neither of my kids will even want all of that stuff. I am going to ask them and then probably just sell it all. Someday in the future. I love the baby Prince. He's wonderful and beautiful. I would squeeze him all day long and kiss his widdo rosebud mouth. Peter Rabbit is important to me. My first figurine was directly from London. I had a friend get it for me at Harrods on her visit there. And that's what got me started. I wish my kids loved it. Gawd I have a shitload of that stuff. And it's all expensive. 2 sets of the baby dishes too. Clothes, baby sweaters. This is a beautiful invitation. My daughter is branching into baby photography. Apparently, there's a new thing called a "Smash" party. It's a photoshoot taken before the party, of the baby smashing it's 1st cake. I don't know why. Maybe so the baby can be kept clean for the real party? I have no clue. But it's so cute. And it's usually way more extravagant than the party. Just cuz it's a small set up. Very colorful and lavish. But tiny, just for the shoot. Then I guess they release the fancy pics as the b'day pics. Sounds fun to me. She's also taking a class to learn how to do Anne Geddes type newborn photography. So exciting. And yet, she still has no baby herself. Ok, long, winded comment. But this baby and Peter Rabbit business is close to my heart. Kisses to his baby face. ❤️💙🎈🎂

Aww, I have a Peter Rabbit baby book. Peter Rabbit is just so classy and sweet. I'm so pleased with how they are raising this sweet boy.

Roxanne - I wanted to do a Peter Rabbit nursery when I had Baby Billy. I love Peter Rabbit. I'm so jealous of your collection! But my sister-in-law sent me the nursery fabric and window treatments she had custom made for her kids and I couldn't justify not using the free stuff when we were so in debt from all of our in vitro costs. But I really wanted to. And we did a smash cake photo shoot for Billy too when he turned one. It was super fun to watch him get all messy! But then we let him do it again at his birthday party too.

Jane - I'll send DD an updated pic. But she's probably tired of seeing him from all of my Facebook posts! Lol!
