So, have you? Ever heard of Barry Cooper? I never had and I can't believe I never had. He looks like a fairly cool dude, right? I'd ditch the joint for the photo myself, but, Barry is cute, at first glance. He looks like 70's dudes. Back when dudes had hair. He also looks stoned, which I always think is funny. But, Barry has many looks, many faces. Many.
I don't know if he's stoned or faking it. In fact, Barry is one dude I cannot figure out. But, I will take his side, because I think it's the right one. If I find out later that Barry is still a narcotics agent and all this is a scam by the ATF etc, oh well. I have nothing invested but some posts on the Internets. Yeah, I said narcotics agent. Barry worked for the police in the narcotics division for, I believe he said, eight years. He has been called the best narcotic agent in the state. He busted the hell out of a lot of people and sent a shitload of people to jail for non violent offenses. He was undercover and also in on the raids. One day, he woke up. He said that he suddenly realized the war on drugs was over and the government had lost. THAT, people, is something I've been saying for years, on here and in real. Barry realized that the agencies breaking down citizens door in the middle of the night, throwing flash grenades and firing high powered weapons into the houses, where children slept..is NOT right. Not when the adults in the house are suspected of nothing more than growing marijuana. Barry says this treatment of non violent offenders can be handled many other ways, than with violence. He says, we have to stop it. He resigned from the narcotics force and started a new way of life. Barry Cooper is now an open advocate and film maker in favor of legalizing all illegal drugs.
Okay, this might get long here. I have a friend who advocates the same thing. He says, everybody should be able to self medicate. He posts his beliefs on Face Book. Sometimes I want to hit him in private and say, dude! You're on parole! But, I know what he'd say..'Fuck 'em, I'm clean, they test me. All drugs should be legal. Let people decide what they want to self medicate with.' Now, see, I thought that was crazy. Drugs like Cocaine, Heroin, Crank, Crack, ect. ect. ect..are never going to be legal. And if you're going to think that they might be someday, then start with an obtainable goal. Like, support legalizing Marijuana, right? People aren't so scared of that anymore. You might actually get it done now. But, my friend says no, Marijuana's just a harmless herb, that should be a given, make all drugs legal. Let people decide for themselves. You know, I like the idea, kind of, but, seriously, how many people would stand up and say that?? I don't know anyone, except my friend, who isn't taking any illegal substances and is wearing a patch they test every week. He's got nuthin' to lose. He's already proved he can do the time anyhow. BTW, he lists his occupation on Face Book as 'License Plate Builder at Leavenworth'. He cracks me up.
But, then I found Barry Cooper by accident. I was checking out some Gorilla grows when I saw THIS. Never Get Busted Again, by Barry Cooper. I guess the dude sells these videos telling growers and sellers how to avoid getting popped and he knows these things because for eight years, he was the popper! I watched the whole thing. The secrets for growers are just common sense. I don't know anyone stupid enough to plant near water or leave trash on the grow site. But, I guess if you're a retard, it's good advice. His explanation of the planes and infrared cameras is really interesting. Most of us know how it works, we just don't know how to block it, other than a power outage every time you hear a low plane. Those planes ARE a bitch, let me tell you. If you don't have cammo on and a hiding spot already picked at every location, then you aren't in the right frame of mind. His advice to indoor growers is interesting, but, sometimes complicated. But, stoners like complicated. I don't. He also had advice on how to sell safely, how to spot an undercover, how to spot a narc, ect. Yeah, narcs are different than under covers. I sound like I know something, you say? Maybe I do. But, rest easy, I am doing nothing illegal. I am law abiding. Yeah, it's boring, but, so is jail. I don't think they'd let me blog all day in jail, so I watch my Ps and Q's. Troll, I'll piss in a jar or give blood anytime.
The thing is, after finding all the Barry Cooper vids I could and watching them, I decided I'm on him and my paroled friend's side. Legalize ALL drugs. As Barry said, tax the hell out of them and build schools and roads. Let people decide what they want to 'medicate' with, and let them have it. Period. If they want to do meth until their teeth fall out, let them. If they want help stopping, give it to them. If they commit a crime while on the drugs, there are already laws in place to take care of that. The majority of drug users are non violent. There has never been a death from Marijuana overdose. Not one. Other drug users are people you never hear about because they party on them and then go back to work at banks, hospitals, schools and every other job and you never know. You will never know who is using drugs when they aren't at work. You'd be shocked. The only drug users in the news are criminals who were criminals before they took drugs. You hear about junkies and overdose deaths. It happens. So does death from alcohol over dose, drunk driving, drunk depressed suicides, drunken murders, and more. But, alcohol is legal. It just seems retarded when you think about it. We had prohibition. It didn't work. Instead, it put alcohol into the hands of gangsters. People demanded their booze. So, we made it legal again. Look, drugs are not going away. They won't. They will always be around and no war on drugs will ever stop it. We've spent trillions and trillions of dollars (much more actually) on this war and lost. Drugs are even more available now. So, I'm joining my friend and Barry Cooper and saying, 'Let people decide what they want to put in their bodies. Just stop arresting anyone for drugs.' Just stop it. Our prisons are full of non violent offenders who should be home with their families. We keep building more prisons. I have worked in prisons, I have seen child killers with short sentences and parole, while a non violent grower is a lifer with no chance of parole. How is that fair or decent? Let's just stop. Let's just ignore non violent drug users, growers and sellers. Who really cares? I know I don't.
You might say I'm crazy, that this would never work. I've thought about it, and I think it would work. I'm not going to put everything I thought about on here. It's amazing if you've read this far. But, trust me, I've thought it out and so have people smarter than me about the law. I really don't think we'd see an increase in crime. Because of the majority of where illegal drugs go. The people you never hear about. They outnumber the idiots. Idiots will always be idiots. Ask yourself this, how can you go to a nice clean pot store and buy a bag, legally, with no repercussions in one state, but, in the next state over, a swat team is tossing a flash grenade in a baby's crib because his parents are suspected of growing pot? How does that happen in America?
How does THIS happen?? Barry Cooper pissed off authorities with his liberal views on drug laws and the raided his home. He was not charged for possession of any drug. He was charged with, get this, creating a hostile environment for his children that caused them to think the government might cause them harm. Yeah, WHAT???? They removed his stepson from his care. A hostile environment?? The hostility and fear came from the damn government!! If he taught them that the government was bad, then they sure proved him right. Is this really America?
Check out Barry's series, Kopbusters, where he busts bad cops. Just type it in You Tube. There's a lot of them. Stealing money, is a good one. Fat ass cop, busted!

Oh man...I love this shit. These links will keep me entertained all night. I agree. Decriminalize it all. Like you said, idiots will be idiots. The criminal idiots will end up in jail anyway. The war is OVER.
Briezy, the links are just something else. Like they have the dude on FOX, but, they won't let him talk. It's infuriating. His kopbusters is pretty good.
Just watched that Fox clip. If anyone still thinks we're a free country, they only have to watch that to be persuaded how far from the truth that is. Sad.
I agree. We're supposed to be a capitalist country, right? Regulate it at the federal level. Tax it to the max. Pardon those now in prison for, within limits, their convictions for their own past drug use. The monies freed by mostly ending our failed "war on drugs" and the new taxes on legalized drugs could make the economy boom. That would be money we could use to fix our failing bridges & roads & pipes; our lousy healthcare system, etc. And, money to rework our broken tax code to better ensure tax justice for all. If we stopped this rotten war on drugs, stopped being the world's policeman and started acting upon the belief that every citizen deserves good healthcare, I'd again be proud of my country of birth.

I don't know that I would agree to all drugs being legalized. I think we will have to start with baby steps. Get people used to marijuana being around and not causing any (or very little) problems. If we start out with everything legal, there will be an increase in death from some of those drugs. That's a given and that will give gov't. the opportunity to say, "We told you so.".
Does that make me a hypocrite? I don't mean to be. I just think if the door is wide open for things like heroin there will be a lot of deaths from kids that don't know what they are getting into.
And let's add 'srooms to the OK list.
I have seen too many things to believe that drugs are OK. I do think that they should be legal & that we could get away with spending a fraction of what we spend on enforcement on treatment. We arrest users who then have a record & can't become productive members of society. The amount we spend on incarceration alone is mind-boggling. More importantly, the drug lords and violence associated with the smuggling and distribution of illegal drugs would go away. One of the reasons we are seeing the influx of Central American child refugees is due to our nation's drug policies. Al Capone et al made their money on Prohibition.
Okay, my thought is always, "what about the babies?" You know that people taking drugs are going to have babies, and the after effects of those drugs on fetuses can be catastrophic, and even when they aren't, they require a lot of additional nursing and post-hospital care for detox. In the hospital, we start abstinence scoring, which tells us if the baby is going to need continued medication or other support.
While it seems like making all drugs legal would make our country's budget better, and get a lot of people out of the criminal system, there is another side to it. And I totally agree with Jane. There will be a steep learning curve, with many deaths.
I also wonder about the safety on our roads. People who are using anything that may impair their ability to drive need to be dealt with. I don't know if it's true, but I read one article that stated car accidents due to impairment have gone up markedly since mj was legalized in Colorado.
There just are a number of facets to this issue.

My bosses son died in the last couple of years from an OD. It was painful to watch him. He had fried all his brain cells, but he still had a job here. His dad owns the company. His sister, my boss, broke the code to get into his cell texts, after his death, and found the drug deal texts. They tried to have the guy arrested but to no avail. Proof of it and still, the law wouldn't get involved. He died. It reminded me of Amy Winehouse. He was like her, he had been clean for a while. Then he was off work one day with an injury and got bored and by that night he had tried something he had never done before and was told it was cool and to try it, but it killed him. His body was not used to drugs anymore. So, making ALL drugs legal? No way. F that shit. Some people don't have the brains to know what's going to kill them. So, make them work for their drugs by making shady ass deals to get them. If not, they will think it's cool and more will die. Nope. Pot? I suppose it's going to happen eventually. Indiana already made it legal to farm hemp. And it's a big enterprise for farmers. It's a good break for them. I hope that goes well. But even pot tho, if the gov't gets their claws into it, they will poison it with some Monsanto shit and there ya go. There would be so much red tape and regulations, and inspections. It wouldn't be a free enterprise anymore. It would be gov't controlled. Nope. I don't like that idea. Colorado might be the test case. And Washington. Let's see how they get along with the gov't. Then explore it further. I don't trust the gov't. Period. JMO.

I have a confession. I have a rolled up doobie that's been waiting for me for over a year on top of my pantry shelf. I'm scared to smoke it. I've got a brother who's going to share it with me whenever I say the word. I think pot should be legalized but I don't know about all the other stuff. I think if you're going to go hard core you'll do it whether it's legal or not. The law doesn't dictate a persons natural inclinations. Look at me. I'm scared to smoke a fattie I've had for over a year!
I couldn't wait to read these comments, it 4 am here...
Briezy, yep. I'm glad you see my point and share it. Oh, hell no, we aint free.
1:35:00 PM, You said it well and I agree. It sure could work.
Jane, I totally used to think just like you, but, after some real study and thought, changed my mind. You might too, if you watch a few of Barry's vids. And hell yeah, shrooms! Fun on a natural safe high? Who could object to that?
Sylvia, I love it that you're against drug use and yet, you see the light. I just love that, I really do. If more people thought like you, the world would suck a lot less.
Christina, the drug babies ARE a problem, but, that's now. It has always been. Some states are taking action against women drugging while preg. We adjust the laws, see? It would be illegal everywhere to take drugs if your preg with a fetus you intend to birth. There would be a cut off date, like first trimester. Incarceration would be the result. But, anyway, I don't think there would be an increase in this problem, because drugs are so easy to get now. As for driving, we have all the tests and we are developing more, quicker and easier ones right now. We should have even higher penalties for anyone caught driving under the influence.
Rox, we will have to agree to disagree. I see your point, but, I was just telling someone last night that if Janis Joplin and Any Winehouse were NOT re-habbed, neither would have died and I believe that with all my heart. Forgive me here, but, it sounds like your boss's son was the same way. Some people can't give it up and when they go back to it, they ALWAYS underestimate their tolerance. So, make it all legal and let people choose for themselves.
'AMY' Winehouse, sorry. Rox, the dealer didn't kill the boss's son. The son accidentally killed himself. I know how hurt the father was, believe me, I've been there, but, that's the truth. It was his choice.
Jo, I say light it up and smoke the hell out of it. You're home and safe, the hell with fear. Put on some kick ass music vids and kick back. Let me know how it was.
Pat, I do agree with the argument about losing tolerance. That is what did him in. But he had never taken the drugs he got that day. So, who knows. Only way they knew was, in the texts, he told the dealer he was scared cuz he had never tried it.. I don't disagree with you but I don't fully agree. It's complicated. Good,& very interesting post. Jo, watch Woody Allen's "Sleeper" or Mel Brooks "Young Frankenstein" when you do have ur pot party. Something hilarious. Best time! 👍
I DO heartily agree with your film choices. :)
Hey, if anyone wants to self destruct that way, it should be their choice. Their choice, their problem and even though it may be painful for their families, it's not my job to babysit addicts especially when they are in full understanding of what they are doing. Those who don't want any part of it will continue to be clean-ish and those who are hooked will continue to use no matter what, legal or not. I don't foresee an increase of rampant usage if they decriminalize drugs.
The day they show me a study about increase in use after legalizing that's peer reviewed by someone who has no vested interest in the drug war I may pay attention. Until then, it's all propaganda to me.
PS I'm gonna sit back and watch the links. Kopbusters, lmao.
