Talk about related posts! That last one reminded me of another of my favorite stars who rarely gets top billing. But, she makes everything she's in all about her. Rightfully so too. Christine Baranski. Doesn't get any better than Christine. When you think of bitch, her image comes swiftly to mind. She does it so well. Christine has won two Tony's for her Broadway work. I've looked up everything she's been in and anything available, I've watched on the net. Even things I wouldn't necessarily watch, if she's in it, I do. She's a major player too and well respected. You hardly ever see her in the news. You see her in everything though, from Ghost Whisperer, Big Bang Theory, Law And Order, SNL, Frasier and many more. She just pops up unexpectedly and I get excited waiting for her to steal the scene. She never disappoints. Christine was the reason I watched every episode of Cybil. Those are on You Tube if you want to catch them. Without Christine's Maryann charactor Cybil would have killed us with boredom. Sorry to say that, because I also love Cybil Shepard, but, only the Moonlighting thing. Cybil really became the Christine show. Cybill Shepard should admit that she became a much better actress from working with a professional like Christine Baranski.
Marryann Thorpe, aka Chritine Baranski in "Spiritually Divorced' scene from Cybil. Admit it, she kind of pulls you in, even if you didn't watch the show, doesn't she?
So, tell me some of your favorite female tv stars. Do you always watch the underdog, like I do? Without Ethel, Lucy would have just looked mentally ill.

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss & Laurie Metcalf are the first two that come to mind.
I wish both 'moms' were on Big Bang more often.
Oh and I also loved Suzanne Pleshette and Valerie Harper back in the day.
All good ones! Laurie Metcalf is the fucking bomb! Anyone who can steal a scene from a hilarious bulldozer like Roseanne is amazing.
Suzanne had that voice! OMG. Who doesn't love Valerie. A spin off that worked. (Until they married her to Joe.)
I never missed "Cybil" and because of this wonderful lady. Christine. She's too funny on TBBT and she did such a great job in Cruel Intentions. Who is my fav? Wow! Carol Burnette is a nut and I love anything she's in. Even her dramatic movies are good. But her TV show was insanity. She surrounded herself with a bunch of genius's and it worked. Played off each other. Roseanne is too funny. And OMG, i saw a commercial for a talk show, probably the Talk. And she's on there as a guest, and she's skinny now! Her man is handsome. She had motivation. LOL. I loved Hot Lips on MASH. Allison Janney has been a favorite since 10 Things. She does no wrong. And now on Mom, she has an Emmy nom. It's hard to choose just one. Dead ones, I have to pick Lucy. Of course. I have a bathroom dedicated to her upstairs. LOL.

I get straight-up giddy when Maggie Smith comes onscreen. I agree you and Sally on Laurie Metcalf. She always steals the scene, no matter who she's with. Love her.
I love Allison Janney too! She is so convincing. 10 Things is in my top 100 movies. She is great in Mom. I have to watch more of that.
I think I can safely say, we all love Carole Burnette.
Lucy drives me crazy, but, I'll bet I'd like your bathroom.
Briezy, Maggie Smith is a Goddess. A Queen! I've seen everything she's ever done, I think, except the abbey show. My all time fav is, The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie. Of course. I've seen that dozens of times and the betrayal by her 'guls' shocks me still. Even though the old bat is nuts, it still makes me mad, every time!
Maggie the Magnificent. Who has more credits than her??? No one, I'll bet. Her wiki page goes on and on and on. And on! She must have worked every day of her life and two matinees on Sunday. Thank you so much for saying Maggie Smith. I have a list of Maggie films and stage to watch again.
PS, oh geez, I totally forgot Maggie was in Harry Potter. Man, were they lucky to get her.
