Have a happy turkey day and wtf is that thing in my comments?

That's what mine's gonna look like, yep. My mother is panicked about it. I am laughing at her. She so cray cray. She wants me to take her to the store AGAIN today, probably to buy a turkey. That's how she is. I am cooking taters and green bean casserole and other sides today. Lis is getting out of school in a minute, so I have to be quick here. I'm picking her up because it's snowing and sleeting. Why did they even bother to have school if they let them out before lunch?? Stupid. Anyhow, you guys have a great thanksgiving and we'll trade horror stories after. If I see anything worth posting, I'll be on. If not, I'm just taking a break. I love you all and wish you best blessings! Three by three, so mote it be!

PS..I have no clue why that stupid thing is in comments, where you have to type some scrambled word to post. Please don't let it put you off. I'm sure it will disappear soon. Blogger has a hic up now and then.

OMG! That thing has been there for a long time. I thought you added it to keep out spammers. LOL. It's kind of a pain cuz I have to re-do when I get it wrong. It's a TEST! I'm not good at tests.
We are deep frying our turkey. Its injected with garlic butter sauce, deep fried in peanut oil to perfection. I am baking a glazed spiral sliced ham and we are all making tons of stuff and of course. Wine, beer, booze. Christmas movies and board games. Sometimes ppl wanna cut out early to go shop. Not me. Heck NO! And I'm off Friday too. Hooray! Have a Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

OK, has anybody else seen the Wal Mart ad for Thanksgiving, that Sabrina The Teenage Witch girl is telling us to bake the turkey upside down for the 1st hour, then flip it over. HOW? How can you just flip over an 18 pound, hot, baked turkey in a slippery greasy pan? I can see many people trying this and totally destroying the turkey, somehow. And it seems kinda dangerous. I get it, I hate the bottom of a baked turkey, Yuck. This is why we deep fry. It's ALL crispy and brown.

Rox, I hate this thing and I DID NOT put it on. I'll go to controls and see if I can take it off, but, I doubt it. Blogger does it sometimes for shits and giggles. I love fried turkey, but, I'm a scared of grease fires. Be careful!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Karen, you sweetie.

Rox, I see that stuff all the time. I tried an upside down chicken, flipped and it just didn't come out right. I am sticking to the old method.

Happy thanksgiving, Lucy! You have a good one.

I've heard that if you bake the turkey upside down the breast won't be so dry. I've never tried it. I usually just injected it with melted seasoned butter while it's baking.

My comment section is normal, but I have had the number and letter thing before---a while back.

I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving! Pat, don't let your mom get to you. If it gets too bad, get up and leave. Go home and have a peaceful day.

Have an awesome turkey day, everyone! One of my favorite two holidays. (Halloween is the other.)
I will probably be working. I am scheduled, but I'm off "sick" today, because my back is not right, yet. I put out some bags of bark dust about 2 weeks or so ago. They were totally soaked, and heavy, and I had a puppy jumping all over me while I tried to spread it, and fill the holes she dug in the lawn. After that I had multiple areas of spasm, etc. in my back, and the last one, sciatica on the left and my shoulders are still bothering me. When I work, I often end up doing things that are, after awhile, terribly uncomfortable, to where I can't get any comfort again, for a long time. Add to that any sneezing or coughing, and I am in a very tough spot, so today, I am off sick. I will work tomorrow if they have me come in, though. A day of rest, Ibuprofen, lidocaine patch, stretching, etc. should help a lot.
I tried the whole "start the bird breast down and then turn it" thing a few years ago, and it resulted in structural failure when I tried to turn it. I ended up leaving it breast down the entire time. It was okay, but I wouldn't do it again.
We are having Thanksgiving dinner at my place on Saturday. My sister and her husband and two adult children, my brother and his son, Andy, and possibly George. Not sure about that last one. He said he was coming, but didn't respond to my text yesterday, so who knows?
I will fix the turkey, dressing, potatoes, gravy, I was going to roast brussels sprouts this year, but my sister had two root canals done yesterday, so I may overcook them (boil them) for her. I'll make the candied carrots my mom always requested, sweet potatoes, probably corn, rolls, fruit salad, and a couple desserts. I don't think I will bake the rolls or make the desserts, though. Costco should be good for the desserts, and either Costco or Safeway for the rolls, they both have great ones.
I have a lot of cleaning to do, with two muddy puppies around. She's got a really bad habit right now. She pulls a random hard-bound book out of one of the book cases, and proceeds to tear it up. I've never had a dog do this before. Maybe I should move all the books out of the dining room, at least. That's a lot of books to move, though.
I hope everyone has a great day, and has lots of wonderful things to eat.
Christina

Happy TDay, Dear Pat and family. We are going to join our rag tag team of 'friend family' tomorrow, made up of artists, set dressers (Sons of Anarchy), painters, writers, theater folk and one zen teacher. I love these people, so much better than bio family bull shit. Pot lucking it so no one is overwhelmed. Love you bunches, lady.

I don't have the letter thing. I made my turkey and sides today and will do my pies tomorrow. I bought bloody Mary fixings and found these big huge olives...I am so looking forward to them. I love Thanksgiving. I hope everyone has a glorious, buttery, sweatpants day :)

I'm cookimg my chicken standing up, atop a coffee cup filled with lemon, garlic & water. I'll let you all know how it comes out. Oh, my sides are a family sized Stoeffers Mac& cheese. I'm only cooking for 2 so fuck it. I slathered my standing Chicken with sesame oil, garlic powder, kosher salt & Hungarian sweet peprika, it's smells wonderful! It's a big ole organic chicken, they always taste better. Maybe because I know it's 10$ and I try harder!
Happy Holliday Everyone,
Shelly

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I had anti-thanksgiving brunch. Made a quiche and french toast casserole and mimosas and called it good. Took a nap, did laundry and fixed a deli turkey toasted sandwich with mustard for dinner. I have no dishes to wash and no mess to clean and leftover cheap champagne. Woot!

Happy Thanksgiving!! My mom does that too: I'll say I'm bringing a bunch of sides, and she'll insist I take her for groceries so she can buy all of the things I said I would make "just in case". Drives me nuts.

I'm not a "Thanksgiving" person but I do have something to be thankful for this year. Some of you might remember I mentioned many months back that my son was having some problems---many problems. Well, I'm happy to say he has been sober for 9 months, one of his AA members (who is a long time friend that he hadn't seen in a while) gave him a job and he seems to be happy. We are patching up the holes in our relationship and life seems to be good. Notice I said SEEMS. That's because I am so gun shy, I keep waiting for something bad to happen. I'm still working on being happy with what I have. I may even get there one day.

On that note, I am hoping those of you who had the big "family thing" Thanksgiving had a good get together.

Christina, I worry about you, you do too much with that shoulder and back problems. You are going to hurt yourself and I am serious. I know because I am just like that. And I hurt myself. There comes a time when you have to admit you can't do it all anymore and either ask for help or just let some things go straight to hell. So there's holes in the yard? Fuck it, tell people it's a large handicapped golf course.

Jane, I am so happy for you. Your son will be just fine. He's done this for Himself, which means he's really ready. I do know how hard relationships with headstrong son's can be. Trust me, I even miss the drama now. I'd take the drama every day if I could have him back.

Susan, ahh you feel my pain. She did exactly that, BUT, she wasn't up to interfearing this year. I did it all and did it up right. Everything was perfect. (I did a help me in the kitchen spell first) I swear, I don't know why, but, those big dinners never trouble me at all. It's the one fancy French or Chinese dish I see on tv or You Tube and think, oh, I can do that! No, I can't.

Dirty Disher said...

Meissa Mouse!!!! So happy to hear from you. You don't post much and I missed you. Maybe now that that crazy scramble thing is gone, you'll post more? Sounds like you had the ideal Tday. Wooo

Dirty Disher said...

eriny, I hope you has a good one too!

Shelly, I know that came out perfect. I've tried it. Yum. Also with beer. Believe it or not, good. Hope you had a good one!

Angie, you said it best. "glorious, buttery, sweatpants day". Indeed it was. I have WAY too many leftovers though. And I gave mom and Cousin Coat half. So, I cooked way too much, as usual. Ehh, turkey sammies and then my coons and possum and skunk can dine.

MaryX2, your day sounds like the best really. I remember the days I hung out with people like that. Sigh. Now I'm in Guntown. Talking down crazies and getting them to surrender their weapons and work it out. I swear, it goes on here all the time. It's like the baddest part of a Ghetto in the old Bronx. But, at least no one is aiming at me. No bullet holes in the siding yet. I see you on FB and love love love your posts. You really are something. You should get to know Noreen on here. She lives in Cali. Works with celebs. She's a hoot, you'd like her. I should FB you together, if you want.

Connie, I hope you and beautiful Marina had a really good holiday. You are so special and I just adore you.

Hello, my dear DD.
I feel the same about you; one in a mill, lady! Thanks!
Yes, sure - I am always game to meet friends through friends.
Here's to a bullet-free weekend! Haha
Tonight we are making a mini, tiny Tday dinner for a few stragglers.

I'm in left over hell. I've finished off one pumpkin pie and about a gallon bag of chef mix. Still working on potatoes and corn. For the hell of it, I went shopping with my daughter Thursday night. People are nucking futs.

I had the ideal T day, totally. Went to visit friends in OR for leftovers. LMAO @crazy scramble thing. That made me laugh so hard! I haven't had much time for fun computer stuff ever since I started working state job, I spend 11 hours away from home (commute plus shift plus hour lunch) and I'm pooped when I get home and all I want to do is eat and go to sleep. Not complaining about the job, which I actually love and have an amazing boss and awesome co-workers, but I've got no life now!
