And there's where the shower will go, right in the middle of the room. He looked at me and said, you sure? I said, yep. So, he re-routed all the plumbing including the sewer line, just like I wanted. I know it's weird, but, I have a plan. Anyway, he did a bang up job, I crawled under there and looked it all over. I was impressed.
All of the weird holes in the walls of the other rooms have been patched. I wanted to save the walls. I know that's odd, but, who has plaster, lath and horsehair wall board? It's just cool old shit and sturdy as hell, so why not? Less drywall to buy too. So, it's going...I stopped for December, not only is it cold as hell, but, the season of debt is coming soon. Oh, and I had a break in. I put a new good lock on the sturdy front door, but, the back door hasn't been changed yet. And it just had a bolt lock. They went thru the crack with a hacksaw and sawed the bolt in half. Instead of stealing anything, they drank beer in there and left the bottles in my sink. They just let me know they can get in if they want and I can go fuck off. They got a foolin' comin, I don't take Guntown shit, I was raised here.
In other news, here is a really stupid thing I did. Lissa was whining about the pain of her gun ear piercing again, she had it done in July. I made sure she kept it clean and there was never an infection, she is just such a drama queen sometimes. I was tired of hearing it, so I took a cubic zirconia stud of hers, dipped it in peroxide and jammed through my ear. I put the back on (I forgot to clean it) and said, "There, that's how ya do it, now shut up about it." It hurt a little but, I wouldn't let her see it. She was bug eyed and appalled. I went to jam the other stud in and dropped it, the damn cat grabbed it ran. He dropped it down the sink on purpose because he's an asshole. So, I said, oh, well, I'll do the next one when this one heals. So, I can use the same stud. I wanted them to be the same size.
I have four piercings, I have NEVER had an infection, I anticipated no problem, but, apparently jamming a stud through the thick part of your ear is not really a good idea. Who knew? It got so infected it was ridic. See that white circle? That is not an earring. That is infection, as is the redness. I took that damn stud out after two days, but, being a 'saver' I just couldn't let the hole go. So, I worked a wire in there. It hurt like a motherfucker and Lissa was laughing her ass off. "Smart move, Grandma, got any more beauty tips?" Shit like that, she's such a pip. Anyhow the infection moved down into my neck and I got lumps in my neck. It was really bad. They went away when I took out that damn stud and put the wire in. I also soak it in straight alcohol every day. Lis said, "Doesn't that hurt??" I said, not much, it feels like when they put an IV in your arm. She screamed, she knows what that's like. I just laughed at her.
So, there it is now, all scabbed over, it no longer hurts and I can move the wire freely. No more lumps in my neck or pain there. Crazy shit, huu? I had no idea a piercing infection could be that bad. Ehh, I'll do the other ear with a needle like I did my first ones. Go ahead, call me a dumbass. I've heard it a lot this week.

Oh hell no! My skin was crawling just reading that. My first piercing was done in a dr. office. Thirty years later my mom and sister decided we would all get a second piercing at a kiosk in the mall. It was not my idea and it hurt like hell. I always thought I could take pain, but I guess not. They had to hold me down to do the other ear. I guess I'm just a big weeny.
Oh! And I'm glad you got your shower where you wanted it.
Sorry but, EWWW! That looks so painful!
I did not get my ears pierced until I was over 21. I know alot of mexican families pierce their girls ears when they are babies. My Mother had nothing but problems with hers - so she just let us do it on our own. Although my older sister had a neighborhood woman do it - ice cube to numb the ear and then a heated up needle! Yikes!
Im sure your bathroom will be awesome! What kind of flooring?
My daughter had an infection like that, but it was her navel. It had huge lumps all around it and was angry red, like yours. The doctor took the piercing out and threw it across the room, gave me the dirtiest look, and then squeezed those boil looking things. She about jumped off the table, it hurt so much. When she got home, she put another ring in there, because after paying forty bucks, she wasn't about to lose it. Turns out she was allergic to nickel.
Yikes DD! That's impressive. I could never do that. My 16 yr old niece decided to get a 2nd piercing in one of her ears over the Thanksgiving holiday. She wanted me to do it too but I'm too old for that. Made me feel good that she wanted to do it with me though. I told her I'd get a fake tattoo with her. That's as brave as I get these days.
OT - you are going to love this. My sister in law (mother of the 16 yr old) was all excited for me because a Goop store just opened in Dallas. She told me that I HAVE to go. She's so jealous that she doesn't have one. She told me several times. I just giggled to myself thinking of all your Goop posts. Maybe I will go and report back to you how insane it is!!
Now that is an infected ear! Looks like it really hurt. It's amazing to me that you were just able to remove the earring and treat it at home. Most often infections like that require an antibiotic to resolve.
My ears got infected after piercing. I think that part of it was due to my using hydrogen peroxide to treat them, and that just doesn't work.
Later on, I pierced my own, to be able to wear three on one side, and two on the other. That was difficult, and I did feel a little pukey when I was pushing the needle through. I continued on and finished it, though. Haven't had any infection problems in years. Wow, that picture is impressive.

i agree with Angie- that is a nickel allergy bc you used a cheap earring that was probably nickel-plated. I used to work as a showgirl in vegas and I was so allergic to some of the earrings I wore and also even to some of the bedazzling they put on our faces and even from neckwear especially heavy shit I would sweat wearing- I had terrible lymph node problems and infections- lol im old now so that is not a problem anymore
First, glad your ear is better, that looked very painful. Second Goop isn't just a pretentious blog? It has actual retail stores?? I would love to hear all about it! I hope it's dreadful, that would be so delicious!
I agree. I would love to hear about Goop. The Store. I'll bet this could be some juicy stuff.
Off topic, but how easy is it to learn guitar? I've wanted to try for years, and am thinking about trying it now. Also, if anyone knows, what is a decent (doesn't need to be top-of-the-line for me to learn on) acoustic guitar? I just don't know anything about brands, and would like to own something that I don't regret owning because it falls apart or turns out to be made of balsa or something. Can anyone help a girl out?

Jane, thanks, as for the ear, oh, I've always been like that. If someone whines about something, I have to do it more, bigger ect. I fucked up this time, lol.
Connie, I have needle and gun piercings. The needle ones got big. I can't even wear studs in them, because they go right thru. But, with ice numbing, it hardly hurt at all. The gun ones are better though.
I'm not sure about flooring. I like the retro in the kitchen and if I can save that, it should match.
Angie, I honestly had no idea piercings could get this bad, your daughter's sounds like mine. But, I am not allergic to anything. It must have been that back I forgot to clean. The cat could have licked it for all I know. LOL at yer kid, not letting the hole go. Hell no. I'm not either. Though, did it leave scars?
Erin, you are a kid! Do what you want. Oh, and hell yes, I want to see and hear about the dopey Goop store. I hope you carry gold bars in your purse if you want to buy anything there, ha.
Christina, glad you asked. No, guitar is not hard to learn. It's hard to master. It takes a lot of time, practice and bloody fingers. For real. But, the feeling you get from it is well worth it to me.
Tell me WHAT you want to do with the guitar? Just play and sing? Then you want to learn Rhytum guitar, like me. My advice is to learn a few major open chords, like A, C, D, G, E. Hell, you can play tons of songs with that. You can add more and minors and 7th's later, if you get into it.
Do not buy a cheap or 'practice' beginner's guitar, those are a rip off. But, you don't have to buy anything fancy at all. You should be able to get a nice acoustic for less than a $100 bucks. Something you can re-sell if it turns out you don't like it. Look on eBay or other used shops, email me and I'll help you choose.
ps. I just mastered some bar chord and blues riffs. I'm pretty stoked about it. I only ever played open chords before. It makes you feel real musician-ey. LOL
ALWAYS use straight alcohol. That looks awful. And I know it can infect your lymph nodes. Which is a good thing. It stops it from spreading further. It makes me cringe to see your ear. Use alcohol ON your ear too. Before inserting an earring. Glad you are better. The house will be great. I've been very busy and probably missed some other stuff. Progress!!!
Rox
No scars, although when she was pregnant, she had to take the ring out and that hole closed up quick as heck, so it was all for naught.
I just want to play and sing. I've been looking at Ebay, and there is a Yamaha I like, but there are a lot of other brands out there, and I don't know one from another. I think I will check Craig's list, too.
Christina
I found a lot of nice looking guitars on Craig's List for $100 to $200. I am going partially on what they are saying about the guitars in the ads, and also the pictures. The brands associated with nice looking guitars in that price range are: Yamaha, Fender, Takamine, Washburn, Drifter, Art and Luthie, Yamaha Nippon Gakki, Jasmine by Takamine, and Luna. There is also a very nice looking Hohner, that is an old, discontinued model, but in pristine condition. A review I saw on Amazon, for some of the Hohner's, said that they were for smaller fingers. I don't know if that is really true, but I don't have small fingers.
I am tickled to be looking at guitars. We had a Montana guitar that we bought at the local music shop for Andy when he was around 9 or so. He had a teacher who decided she would teach anyone who wanted to learn guitar for $5 per lesson in a group class before school started, a couple of times a week. She was a crappy teacher, and she was so flighty and weird, I don't think anyone ever learned anything of substance. The Montana was not very good. The parts were crooked, not put together quite right, even to my untrained eye, once I looked at it. He now has a Fender Stratocaster, but never tries to play.
I don't have a clue what I am doing, or how to research it. Many of the guitars available have listings that say they have never been played, or maybe 10 times in over 6 months. I hope to do better than that.
Christina
I taught myself to play when I was 14 on a crappy beginners guitar. Learn how to read a chord and the strings and fret placement and start strumming. Can you read music?
Pat exaggerates as I am sure we all know, my fingers never bleed. They got very very sore before I got hard callouses. You just need to play some every day in the beginning.
You do not want a guitar where the srings are far away from the frets.
A classical guitar are easy to learn on.
Good luck.
