I can't do a post on Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac without adding something about the fabulous and much overlooked Christine McVie. It was her and her ex husband who put the Mac in Fleetwood Mac. She wrote a few of their hits. I never liked 'You Make Lovin' Fun', but, I love 'Say That You Love Me'. And if you've never listened to her solo stuff without the famous band, you've missed something good. One of my favorites is the bluesy 'Crazy 'Bout You, Baby'. It's the first song on that awesome album. 'Leave Me Alone' is awesome as well. She does that famous Etta James song on there too, 'I'd Rather Go Blind'. (I love Etta James.) It blows Beyoncé out of the water, if you ask me. She has other albums I love too. HERE is her self titled album. Damn, there are some great songs on there! Like 'Who's Dreaming This Dream'. I love that song. And 'Got A Hold On Me'. She's worth looking up.
She was always behind the scenes and she never wanted to be the center of attention. And that's one of the reasons Fleetwood Mac was so overlooked until Nicks and Buckingham joined them. Those two loved the spotlight and it took the band to the top. When asked what it felt like to be a rock and roll sex symbol, Christine responded, "I don't know, ask Stevie Nicks". Then she rolled a fat one and laughed. Christine stayed in the background by choice. I think that's why her solo albums seem to be so ignored. She was just as hot as Stevie, but, not a hot dog. Too bad, really, but, she was always real.
Then and closer to now, Christine just remains beautiful to me. She's an amazing musician and from the videos of her I've watched, she would be cool to hang out with. She's funny, quick witted, not the least bit vain and always herself. Her music is so different than Stevie's, if you listen, you can tell in an instant who wrote what. It worked for them and so did Christine's amazing keyboards. She could lose herself too, but, there are so few vids of that. The camera was always focused most on Stevie or super hot dog, Buckingham. But, that's the way Christine wanted it.
Christine with John McVie. Yeah, I'd make that face too if I was married to him. Sorry, fans. What can you say about him? Umm, nice bass, dude. Whatever. He seems like a nice, quiet guy, who liked to stay far in the background. They divorced about the time the album 'Rumors' came out. And that title was John's idea, based on their problems. A couple of songs were written about it, one is Christine's 'Don't Stop'. Then they stayed together as fellow band members and no more drama was heard. Unlike Buckingham and Nicks who are still griping and writing about their breakup to this day. Gawd.
Might as well add Mick Fleetwood. There's a LOT to say about this guy. Strangely hot, a big, tall, craggy drink of water, this one. With an English accent to boot. Sorry, but, I can't blame Stevie for that, I would have jumped on him too. He just keeps getting hotter the older he gets, it's weird. Hot old man. He did some odd shit on stage, like, he was one of the first to wire percussion into his clothes and come out dancing and slapping his hips or chest to make drum sounds. He could bring one odd drum out and make individual notes on it. Almost like a lead guitar. The dude is a legend. He went to town on those drums like they were a sex machine and he always had his mouth hanging wide open when he was into it. I always wanted to ask him if that had to do with percussion sounds. Like maybe it amplified his hearing himself play. Hey, it sort of makes sense. I don't know about you, but, I love the videos that focus on him. Check THIS out. Best vest solo. Crazy shit! I love him.
Okay..there's Lindsey Buckingham. That's about all I have to say about him. Well, not all. That naked thing was their album cover for Buckingham and Nicks before they joined Fleetwood Mac. It's not a bad listen at all. And there they are in the now, pretending they still love each other when they certainly don't. Yes, he could play a great lead. That's all he gets from me. I am not a fan.

I saw the vest percussion...so very cool. I agree...Mick Fleetwood just keeps getting hotter.
He does! I love him all old and grizzly.
I was really lucky to see them on their current Tour in Auburn Hills, Mi. We were in the nosebleed section, but there. Glad I went. They, like me, are getting older.
Man, they still rock it out though. I'm old too. I don't mind how they look now, the sound is there.
Yeah she's British and they don't take their egos as seriously as the rest of the world.
I've had the pink Christine Perfect album for decades and though I think she's really likeable and talented, I don't like her voice. I wish I did but can't get around it. I don't know much about Stevie but she has a great performing persona and some of her recordings are irreplaceable. I still love her Landslide over the more recent Dixie Chicks one. She really delivers and she exemplifies sexy female rocker better than anyone I can think of.
Good post!
The reason we went to the Concert was just this: Who knows if they will ever-ever do a full blow Tour again with ALL the Original Band Members. It is grueling Touring. Stevie told how when they approach Christine, she said she needed to hire a Trainer to get in shape. She did and looked great. Stevie was her usual Witchy Self. Landslide was amazing. Fun Night.
