Good morning (I know it's noon, but, who gives a fart?)

That's my new coffee pot. In the last year, I have gone through six coffee makers. Most of them Dollar Store, made in some Asian hell, but, also one Hamilton Beach, one Westbend and one Mr. Coffee, fancy pants that looked like the Starship Enterprise and beeped at me when it was done, beeped at me when it THOUGHT I was done (fucking asshole), beeped when it shut itself off, bla bla. I HATED that mother fucker. Not a one of them could pour coffee without spillage. The Mr. Fucking Coffee started leaking from the bottom and I had to make coffee IN the sink. In short..they all sucked dirty ass.

I saw this old thing at the used store and thought, why not? Got it for a dollar. I tried it out and was amazed. First, you smell the coffee perking. I mean, REALLY smell it, not like the wimpy whiff from the new machines. Second, it is really easy to clean, inside and out which none of the new ones were. Some of them were impossible to really clean. Third, it pours like a dream, no spillage. And last...it makes absolutely AWESOME coffee!

Bonus..it looks cute as a gnats wrist watch sitting with all my other old kitchen junk. It feels like home, and smells like it too. You may think it takes too long to make a pot. Nope. I timed it with one of the dollar store brand new pots. It took exactly the same amount of time to get a delicious pot of java. (Ok, it's not as fast as a Bunn, but, come on, it was one dollar.) And you use about a third LESS coffee because it percolates over the grounds instead of dripping in one place. MY advice is, get one and try it. Around here I see them for 50 cents to a dollar a lot. If you can't find one where you live, let me know. I'll find you one.

ps..it's so cute to see the coffee perking through that glass knob on top.

It is very cute. It really hits my nostalgia button. Something like that would be very spendy here. Retro is snapped up like crazy, and the prices usually reflect the demand.
I like coffee, but got out of the habit of fixing it at home because my husband hated it. He could not even tolerate the smell. So, a couple of years ago, I bought myself a little Mr. Coffee on black Friday. It was just under $10 on special and so little it was cute as a bug. Would you believe I have never used it? I always had the background worry about whether my husband would smell it and start complaining. I think I'm going to start using it. It has been sitting on the counter, collecting dust for well over a year. I think it's time to start percolating. . .

Perkolaters make the best coffee, so much better than drip. Now I just use a french press though. The cheap kind you get at IKEA--because it goes in the dishwasher.

great find!

I love it, what a cute coffee maker! We have some silver here (which I had to polish the other day) so that is what it reminds me of. Ours is a teapot, though. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I wonder if you could make some awesome tea with one of those?

I don't drink coffee at all but wish I did. I'd have all sorts of gizmos for it and flavors of it. I'd schmooze at Starbucks. But alas, I had a cup when I was about 19 and then peed about every 15 minutes the rest of the day, and negative reinforcement works on me all the time.

That's really cute. I hope it last forever. We use french press at our house. Sound fancy but all you have to do is boil water and press the grounds down, It's kind of a mess but no parts can fail, hard water will not clog it. Noelle

What a beautiful thing! Classical and elegant and makes a good brew. Lucky you!

Were you serious about helping someone find one of those? I live out West and stuff like that would only be found in an overpriced antique store.

Yeah, I usually find what I set out to find. I have a knack for junkin'. Send me an email, it won't be long before I find another one.
