How the old pin up girls really looked

I liked these, thought they were cute, I'm a Bettie Page fan. I like the pin up girls. I thought they were all made up. But, here's the real deal. It seems, even back then, no matter how good you looked, it wasn't quite good enough, was it? Nope. You're already tiny waist had to be even smaller. You're quite adequate boobage a bit larger and much more pointy. And I know, that's the way I make a dog house. I straddle that fucker with a short dress and thigh stocking and stick my pointy boobs out. Then I smile like I just won a free shopping spree at Fredericks of Hollywood. Making sure my recently permed bob was tousled just right. Maybe that isn't such a bad idea, actually. If you sat in the front yard like that long enough, some man would stop and help a little silly lady. You could do the female thing and make him some iced tea and a sandwich. Oh, and don't you love how they made them all look younger? Like pubescent nymphs in a woman's body. "Oh, golly gee, I'm so scared of this fake bird and this bathroom scale! Help me big strong man!"  Wacka, whacka, whacka.

Hell, even Bettie herself wasn't quite good enough. Hey, boys, wouldn't you like to get sick so you could be in THAT hospital?

I guess maybe that's what Coco was going for when she was photographed next to her upside down bike, looking little girl puzzled.
They really did make them look like little girls in women's bodies. I never noticed that till you mentioned it.

I like them. Such a contrast to today when everybody wants to be a Kardashian. Funny, I can't picture them as cover girls, tho.

Saw a pic of Betty Page in a bikini on a beach, 1957, on Instagram. I thot it was a current photo. It's a great picture. Fabulous. She was gorgeous.

When I was little, my daddy would never let me go into the bathroom at his warehouse office. He said it was broken. It stayed broken for about 10 yrs. until I sneaked in there. And there were the pin-ups. I never could figure out what the big deal was. By that time I was 15 or 16 and skimpy swimsuits were in fashion. I had one, but one day it mysteriously disappeared. Never to be seen again.
