Yee fuckin' haw. Jebus.
That's gross, I know, but, it's to show the stump that's left. Yes, I do have big teefs. They fit in my big swollen lipped mouth. These are the before pics..so damn embarrassing. I couldn't even talk to people comfortably. Every time I laughed, you could see this damn hillbilly look. Sooo...
After...yay, I can laugh again. It's a temp partial plate. Insurance wouldn't cover it, but, fuck it, call me vain, but, I just couldn't stand not having a front tooth. I am very happy with it. There was no pain and no meds involved. Just molding and a little sanding of the root, but, she stopped when I asked her to. In that one pic you can see the awful root that's left. I have no idea how she'll get that out, there isn't enough left to pull. I'm betting she will have to cut and go up in there. And that's fine with me. I've been through so much real pain in the last few years, this is cake. I'm not even nervous. I go back on the 16th for a cleaning, which sounds odd, but, I know (think) she's coming up with a plan. She's fresh out of school and still learning, but, she's cool. Her dad was a dentist too, so I'm betting she'll call him for advice. I could tell she wasn't quite sure about this. But, I trust her. She let me see everything she did and she's has some cool ass equipment, I was fascinated with the process and she let me play with all the cool stuff. She even has a jar of old silver fillings in mercury and shit like that around to just play with. Whatever she decides to do is cool with me, I can take it. In the exrays, which are digital now, I could see the root is one long conical piece and that's a relief. I have horrible double and triple roots on most of them that are way, way bigger than the tooth and tear me up when they're pulled. This one looks pretty straight forward.
There it is, you'd think you could see it over the other teeth, but, you can't. It's a bit longer than my real tooth, but, it's only temporary, so who cares. They even matched it to my off color. (I do not give a damn if my teeth aren't halogen white.) It didn't fit right, even after her working on it for an hour. I couldn't pronounce S's. I thounded like Thindy Brady. It's so difficult to tell someone how it fits or doesn't. So, finally, I just told her it was good, because I knew I could fix it myself. I watched what she was doing and I can do that. I did. I cut half the back off and sanded it, front and back and now it fits good. It snaps in. I also used some super glue on the tooth part. If you get one, do not eat Funyuns with it in. No matter how bad you want Funyuns. Not good. But, it's cool. I'm happy now and can smile without putting my hand over my mouth. I can smoke/vape with it too. I hope the permanent one fits better though. I don't want to fuck that one up.

Thanks for posting these - nothing vain about keeping your teeth!
Now i'm going to try to find a dentist I like and get my work done - but am sure they're going to hit me with numerous scary procedures since I seem to be going to pot fast. Not looking forward to it but wanna keep my teeth if possible.
I'm still scared to go. And I hate to spend the money. Everybody says, oh you have insurance, but it only covers about 35% of the total bill, tho it costs me 20 some bucks a month. Scared. Looks like that would have been a place for an implant, Pat. I'm missing the tooth that is the 3rd from front on both sides. On one side it's the #3,4,5 teeth I've got the stumps on the first ones missing on each side. Crack whore.
You can do wonders with a dremel tool. I work on my splint a lot. (TMJ) All of my teeth are capped except for four. And they are starting to wash away so I need to start on them. When I started the capping process, I went with the #2 on the color chart. The #1 sparkled too much and was not me. I just hate that whole gagging part where they put that tray of goo in your mouth.
I am a white knuckle dental patient and I loathe going. However, I loathe the idea of losing my teeth more. I can feel your relief from here. Glad you feel comfortable laughing again.
I was only nervous because I thought they were all goners and all those extractions would have made me sick. I always get dry socket. But, she says they're all savable, but, that top one of course, and one back bottom one. So, I'm in better shape than I thought. A couple of small cavities to fill and I'll be ship shape again. BTW, those 6 left are all I have in the top. My visible smile line. I get by just fine.
BTW, Lis and I went for Chinese last night, I like the crunchy shrimp. I kept it in and it was fine.
