Miley Cyrus - The Backyard Sessions - "Jolene"

I know, it seems like I'm defending her from something, but, I'm not. I'm just enjoying her today and thought I'd share. How can anyone not like this?

Interesting tidbits..Dolly Parton is Miley's Godmother. Dolly claims she wrote this song, half in jest, most imagined, from a flirtation her husband, Carl, had with a local bank teller who had a crush on him. This was way back in their younger days.

I remember years ago, one of you on here, challenged me to find a photo of the reclusive, quiet Carl Dean. It took me two days to find one tiny, grainy photo. Now days, there are lots that Dolly has released, but, man, back then, it was nearly impossible. This dude does NOT want the spotlight. He DOES look like he was quite the hunk, doesn't he? I always thought he and his wife had an umm, 'understanding'. She never talks about that.

I like her too. My kids gave me the Hannah Montana movie for my birthday one year, and I dragged my teen to the theatre to see it. The Bob Dylan covers she did are pretty good, too. She's got a great voice. I don't care for the 'gluing pills to my glasses' phase she went through, IMO just to sell records, but whatever.

I hear you. I glue shit to other shit though, in the middle of an insomnia bout. I have never claimed it's art, but, hey. Hannah the movie sucked my invisible dick. Saw it three times. Such a dark time in my life, looking back. Now, I hear Meek Mills and Nicki have broken up. Oh, Minaj my life. Kardash my ass. You know the rest. I am ashamed, deeply. Deeeeeeeply.

She does this song well. I like her version and she sounds perfectly fine.

I had a dream Dolly Parton was my grandmother, twice. It was weird. She didn't want me to go into a room, which made me want to know even more what was behind the door.

It's an odd situation, Dolly and Carl. But whatever…Nice to see a picture of him. I wonder what he is like as a person. Does he speak?
Great they are together so long. I like it when people stick together. I'm always disappointed when the breakups happen after 35 years, which they frequently do.
I have sort of a go with the flow attitude. At some time, for some reason, people connect and can actually learn to know one another and respect each other and stay together, even though most of their real lives are lived apart. No great passion or anything, just a thing that goes right for the most part. Always nice to know there is somebody who ultimately is in your corner, the friend you can go to. I think that is Dolly and Carl. Also such a relationship depends on not caring so much that every little thing is a crisis. Caring too much is a relationship killer. IMO

I've always loved her voice, but now I want to hear more about Dolly.
