Guntown is real

If anyone ever thought I made up the name 'Guntown', I didn't. I really do live in Guntown and we are a separate entity.

From Wikipedia.."The southeast area of Clarinda was once dubbed "Gun Town" and remains known by that name today. A noted author wrote, "In the twenties and thirties, Clarinda seemed to be two separate towns: Guntown and Uptown. In the middle of the square was, and still is, the courthouse. The four blocks surrounding it are filled with businesses. Guntown was a town all its own. The 700 block of East Garfield was a solid block of businesses--grocery stores, barber, a Chinese restaurant, another restaurant on a corner, a rug factory, a large grocery, the Swifts packing plant, and railroad tracks with freight depot and roundhouse to turn trains around."
****************************************
How about that? I just found that by accident while trying to find property lines. I think good ol' cousin-fucker Joey lied to me and stole part of my land. I'm having a fence built for my animals and a neighbor just clued me in. She wondered why I don't get all my property mowed and I said, 'that part isn't mine'. She said, 'Well, according to Page County property records, it is." Damn, that Joey. He's such a liar and a thief. She looked it up because my aunt asked her to look up her property lines and that's on the other side of me. Can you believe that guy? He made a point to tell me I couldn't plant any trees or flower beds on that side because it belongs to him. I was bummed, but, oh well. He hates my garden and is afraid of snakes. Little bunghole. What's the fastest growing tree in America?

Anyway, yeah, I live in Guntown and it's a real place. It's not very big, but, it's unique. We do not spell it as two words. All tombstones and tattoos read 'Guntown' or 'Guntowner'. I'm on the 700 block of East Garfield, like Wiki mentions. The heart of Guntown. My house holds the oldest deed in the county. It was built before Iowa became a state. I guess I bought a little piece of history. All the old buildings are still here, still being used, but, for different things now. I like the old wooden ones the best.

Old pics are pretty cool. There's more trees and more cars now, but, it pretty much looks the same to me. Wait, we used to have sidewalks?? What happened to them?

That's fascinating to me. I'd love to have a tour around that town. Really.

Its so interesting to hear the history of little towns, so odd and by a different set of rules than big cities. :P That main street somewhat reminds me of my town, brick buildings at different heights and connected. That seems to be similar in a lot of smaller towns. Gives you a sense of history that way, too.

What a jerk, trying to put one over on you like that. You should plant one of those huge death flowers on the actual property line. Oh, and stinging nettles. Pampas grass could be another interesting choice. We had huge stands of it out by our gate when I was little. My mom always said she found lots of snakes in there when she was trimming it. I hope you get it fenced off before he notices.
Your town is pretty cute and it is so cool that you have the oldest place in the area, from before statehood. I thought the name was just a local expression, though. I had no idea it was the real name.
I hope you are able to move into your new home very soon, and that your big, fat love of a kitty (and the others ) transition quickly and well.

Kitty, that's the typical small town square. It's very pretty with Victorian and Gothic houses and separates us from them. Beyond that to the East is more modern. To the South, it's Guntown and ghetto. Cheaply built and rough, but, much more interesting. In the past, the Japanese interment camp was here, also a 'negro' would only be allowed in this end. As well as those disgusting theatre people and actors. Which was cool for me because I have some of the old hotel registers with autographs by Mary Pickford, Gloria Swanson and more. I treasure them. Jesse James loved Guntown and was a frequent visitor.

Christina, thanks. I want the fence for my animals, they respect boundries most of the time. Mostly it's to keep things out, not in. I can only afford wire. I love Pampas. I have no luck with it, but, I will try one more time. That would make an incredible privacy fence! Shit grows SO fast here. Joey is such an asshole. We went over yesterday to watch a movie in lawn chairs I drug in and that little bastard called his buddies and tried to make us uncomfortable already. Didn't work. I turned on all the lights and walked around with a lap top while we pretended to check our security cameras. LOL, it fucked with them. I am getting some though. Wally world has them on sale. I'm so broke I'll have to borrow it from the old lady, but, I will. Those bastards need to stay out of my house. And off my property. I need to find those damn property lines. The way that little sonofabitch lies, I would have had to move my deck steps for the fence. God, I'm so glad my other neighbor told me, I just believed him. I am astounded at his balls. Lying like that. Jesus.

ps..I told him I would uphold my promise about Beer Can Alley and he got all snotty with me, telling me HIS rules for my alley! So I said, fuck you then, it's mine too. They can take their beer cans and piss stains and fuck the fuck off. I am fencing it. It will now become a wild animal feeding station and eventually my small veg garden...now that the piss smell is finally dissipating. Nasty fucking men. I had to pay to have an entire truckload of liquor bottles hauled off. It was a big truck too, not a pickup. Man, I am not the cleanest person in the world, but, those bums take the cake. That was disgusting.

I also found out he was the one who turned my fat cat in. Just to make trouble. He has never been around or been in any way inconvenienced by fat cat. I'm still not throwing that victory in anyone's face, but, no one will ever take fat cat. He will leave when he's ready and not before.

That fucker. He is disgusting and what a piece of shit liar he is. I'm really, really worried about what that asshole might try with the animals.

Angie, me too, so I'm fencing and getting cameras. As you know, I am almost always home. So, he won't have much chance to do anything, even if he has the nerve. He's a braggart who's afraid of everything and he's usually skunk drunk and immobile by 2pm. He does have a mentally retarded lacky though. I worry about that. I know what that dude fears though and I have a plan. I can't wait for you to visit.

Pickles, I missed you there. Ash trees? I will look em up. Thanks.

Is there any chance he reads here? Or anyone that might tell him what is said? I'd had to voice a fear and have that dipshit take it and actually use it. Poison concerns me greatly...it's so easy to put something out for animals to ingest. Regular household items that are safe for humans can kill a pet pretty damn quick.

fastest growing tree I've ever planted was a Lombardy Poplar. Deer like them though so they need some protection when young if you have deer around. I also like them because they are so cheap and you can get them bare root in the spring. I got mine from Gurneys--they shot up like a weed. They last about 15-20 years and then make good firewood.
another fast one is River Birch.---and it has that pretty peeling bark.
