Snowin' outside

It's snowing out and I mean really coming down. The satellite dish has turned into a big bowl of snow and that company never tells you that you won't have tv when it snows. Good thing I have wifi, but, the laptop quit. All I have left is this desktop monstrosity. Anyone else have satellite tv? It's bites a wiener, doesn't it? They claim you get all these hundreds and hundreds of channels, oh, that may not be a lie, but, they don't tell you that almost all of them are shit. Shopping channels, Christian ministry channels, fucking sports and a bunch of shit you have to pay extra to watch. In reality, what you get is regular tv and a menu of shit you might like to rent. Oh and a 1,000 fucking music channels. If I wanted music, I would have turned on a radio. Anyhow, never get dish, it's a giant rip off and when it snows you can't even get Kardashian reruns anymore.

Also a huge disappointment, putting it mildly, is a water conserving washing machine. Just don't do it. Don't ever do it. If I go into how bad that is, I will have another stroke. The good news is, you can hack it's circuitry after you threaten to murder the people who sold it to you. To their face. I hate those people. Shitty store. You can not wash clothes in a gallon of fucking water, you morons.

The weather is frightful, but, it's cozy in here. All the animals are fine. The cats are not asking me to let them out today. No way. Everything with a brain is holed up somewhere warm. I have a couple of strays I've acquired. They always find me, don't they? One looks pregnant. Nice. The wildish animals are all fine, including my Tooney. He's just doing so well on his own. Casey J  is in town, I think we're going to lunch. If she drives. I am not getting out in this, I have everything I need. Coffee, smokes, snacks. I could go pick up some meds, but, cold turkey sounded better than warming up the car today. That's how shitty it is out there.

I resorted to laughing at Lis this morning to get her up. I flat out gloated that I could go back to bed and made fun of her walking in this snow. Hey, I've tried everything else to get her up, but, laughing at her mad ass seems to work best. I sang to her as she trudged down the walk..that ditty about snowflakes nipping at your nose. Ha. Yes, I am a shitty parental figure, but, she arrived on time (I  hope.) Or hell, maybe she's down at the pool hall shooting some snooker. Who cares? As long as I get some peace. This season quite sucks and my participation in the Christian extravaganza of debt and guilt is minimal, at best. I suppose I could change the header pic to something seasonal. Maybe. Really, it all seems so worthless to me. I hate holidays. What have you got to complain about? Do tell.

My house looks like a junk shop, as usual, but, I'm still sorting. I don't even like most of this shit, but, you can't just throw away antiques. Or maybe you can. At least I can throw most of it in that huge butt ugly garage now.

Everyone thinks they want a new house, but in reality, it takes YEARS to get things just the way you want them and isn't that the shits? I've been in my house five years and I'm just getting it right.

No snow here, just rain, rain, and more rain. I walked downtown this weekend in just a sweater. Crazy.

There's ice and crap tapping on the window it's starting to slightly get on my nerves.

I am glad to see you posting.
Your place looks nice. Mine is in total disorder. I loaded a bunch of stuff off to a storage unit last night. The unit is way at the end, and it always creeps me out for some unknown reason, but I went there, and then my battery died, stranding me there for a couple hours in the cold and rain, with the windows fogged and a dying cell. It sucked, but AAA replaced my battery when they came out, so now it works great. It was expensive, but I got really good use out of the first one (it was the original, from '06 ), so I can't complain, really.
It has been absolutely hosing down rain for the last week or two. I think we set a record, and there has been flooding in some areas.
I know what you mean about HE washers. I replaced mine with another one recently. It just doesn't do as good a job, but the price was right.
As far as Direct TV goes, I have never tried it, but have thought longingly about it recently. My ex and I separated out our cable bills in late September, and it still isn't right. I was on the phone yesterday and again this morning, and it still is a mess. Multiple issues with service (they told me whatever they thought I wanted to hear, they forgot to add in my DVR, though they said they did, then, even though I had replaced it in the past few months, they said I had to get a new one, then it wouldn't program, then the remote wouldn't work, then they were no-shows for guaranteed appointment windows. Now my bill is incredibly farked up,but at least as of this morning, they have whittled it down from $266 per month to $142 per month. (It is supposed to be $120 per month, but we are getting there.)
My son keeps talking about how much better it will be when we get Google Fiber, I think it is. We shall see.

Your place looks great! I love it. I would kill for a garage. Trying to keep junk accumulation under control in my tiny house is a full time job. Have you thought of getting Nettflix? We got it and it only costs $15 a month compared to others that cost $70 plus. But then we don't get snow here. Just looking at a balmy 84-100 degrees f this week.

I have Direct TV and when it is raining it will go out. It's a bitch when it's the end of a movie and you never find out "who done it". But the only alternative we have is cable and when it goes out, usually from falling trees, it can stay out for days. After the last hurricane we had, we were without tv for a few weeks---out came the old rabbit ears--2 stations are better than none. And I'm still trying to bundle my u-verse, direct tv, and AT&T. I guess 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

We are still having warm weather. It has been in the low 80's a few days since Dec. 1st. But I have been doing some things in the yard. Mostly spraying weeds. The really cold weather will hit us mid-January.

My sister had one of those HG washers and she really didn't like it. I think she sabotaged it so she could get a new one. The computer thing kept screwing up. I think that happens when you beat on it with your shoe a few times.

I don't have snow, had DirectTV and liked it, and have Dish. It's cheaper. If a tv goes out, they are Smart TVs so you talk to Dish and they say talk to the TV manufacturer who says to talk to the internet provider, and on it goes. I get a service contract and get somebody to come out eventually. Dish hopper lets me get tv on a tablet or computer or phone. Handy as can be. Rabbit ears are not the thing at all. Now it's the flat squares you scotch tape on a window. Much better and tv on probably 100 channels for free over the air. Not pay per view cable channels but all sorts of stuff you don't' get with cable or satellite. Pretty damned handy, especially for you in the snow.

I refuse to pay for a storage unit. Here at my house I have a very nice storage shed and a garage. If I move to where I have neither I have to get belongings down to where I don't need extra storage. I told you when the house burned it felt wonderfully free to have nothing. I was serious.

Hi Pat! Your place looks so cozy. We are getting hit with some lovely blowing and drifting snow today. I went shopping on sunday, so we are all stocked up and don't have to go anywhere.
I have dish, it's ok. With the way the snow is drifting, I may have to go out and broom the snow off the dish if/when it gets covered.
I got one of those cheap fire tablets recently and can also hook it up to my dish, but I've yet to try and figure out how. I should do that today.
If you have animal planet, try and catch Pitbulls and Parolees. Tia Torres does a lot of good in this world.

Wow, snow? We don't usually get snow until January. But that's the South for you. Our cable gets a bunch of music channels, too; but there is one I like. It's called soundscapes or something, other than that I'm with you about that radio.

Loving the vase with ornaments in it!

I never thought I'd be paying for storage, either, but we actually have two units. One holds a lot of stuff from my mom's estate, that I had planned to bring here over a period of time. Due to our separation, divorce, etc, I have not brought any of it here, yet,and won't until my ex's stuff is gone. The other we are using, hopefully very short term, to hold a lot of the renovation stuff until everything here's sorted out. We put the boxes of oak plank flooring, tiles, plus just extra, small furnishings, small kitchen appliances, craft stuff, etc in there just to decrease stress, and help me organize. I do resent paying for them, but have made my peace with it temporarily.

Wouldn't that garage be a perfect place for your trumpet vine?

Screw satellite and cable. And Netflix and Hulu.

We have Dish and we love it. But just for TV. Satellite sucks for internet, we have fiber cable for that--it's the new thing here in Mpls lately and CHEAP. But everything is better than comcast or century link. I think if I had to go back to regular cable I might even stop watching regular TV, comcast & century link are THAT bad. Trick to making Dish work, imo, is to place your satellite where you can get to it to knock off the snow. We don't have that luxury because our lot is so small and we have too many large boulevard elms here in the city, and huge old oaks and maples in back yards. So our little satellite is on the roof. I can see it's shadow on the neighbor's house on sunny winter days--it always freaks me out a little!---cause it's perfectly round.
But when Dish goes out we can always get Hulu from the fiber cable. Or watch whatever is on the DVR.

Your house looks so cozy Pat! I'm so happy for you. :-)

Went to Whole Foods yesterday. I usually try to stay away from there but I was in the area---had to do the dentist thing. I love their choices of cheese and bread. The best is the walnut and cranberry bread. I've eaten a loaf in 2 days. Between the cheese and bread, I guess I better break out the exlax----which is why I usually stay away from Whole Foods.
