My feets are screaming. They don't look like that, but, they sure feel like it. I've kept track of my blood sugar every day and other than the snuck half can of coke here and there, I've been eating right. But, a week ago I woke up, got out of bed and fell on my face..hard. I went, WTF? I tried two canes and then two beat up crutches and it looked like some kind of clown show. It felt just exactly like I was walking on two heavy solid blocks of wood that had been nailed to the bottoms of my feet. Not being one to do anything halfway, I then lost my right arm at the shoulder and most of my back. The pain is incredible, that pins and needles on the inside and burning on the outside. I called that old lady who's related to me and asked if I could borrow one of her walkers..she collects medical equipment. I had already had some problems and asked my doctor, but, he said he had no idea where you got equipment like that. I called the pharmacy and they said they carry it and all I need is a script from my doctor. So while these two pillars of the community fight it out, mom has some in her shed. She has nice ones too. I asked to borrow a shiney dark red number with a padded seat that folds out to sit on or hold groceries. She picked one out and got cousin Bruce to bring it over with her, of course. As soon as she got in my house, she made the sign of the cross (we aren't Catholic) and started screaming about how dirty/filthy my house is. I could feel my blood sugar and pressure rise. My house is not dirty or cluttered and in no way was filthy. I had some stacks of projects I was working on laying on a table, like new curtains I'm sewing and old fashioned chimney covers I'm repainting. Oh, and a box of antique composition dolls that I'm restringing. All the shit was in order with tools, lights, magnifiers, etc. Let me assure you, the house wasn't a mess at all. But, she ran in screaming about the horror, moving things as I begged her not to, until finally I grabbed two canes and demended she stop. Then I fell again. Without the walker, I fall a lot. I landed hard, breaking my fall with my head. There was some good bleeding going on and some glass grapes and McCoy tea pots broken. I tried to get up, yelling at her to leave when I fell again, butt first. I gave up and stayed on th floor. She grabbed my phone to dial the ambulance. I screamed no and tried to kick her. Lissa came to the rescue, grabbing the phone and saying, "My grandma said NO, she don't want your help and if you try and call the cops I'll get her gun for her and I mean it! She did too.
Lissa informed that old attention whore that she would NEVER live with her. Bring it on BITCH. So Tuwella calmed down and tried a different approach. Oh,boo, hoo, she just wanted to help and went into my kitchen to snoop. I sent Lis in and she blocked her every approach, wouldn't even let her in the fridge. I told her I just needed the damn walker and she could leave. Bruce just stood there like a big tool not knowing what to do. I got him to get me up and I was fine.
That old woman is just dying for me to be incarcerated or dead so she can get in here and snoop around. Well. I know if they get me into the hospital I won't get out, at least not with my feet and I'll be goddamned if that's going to happen. The crazy old bitch startedplaying doctor and told me she was sure it was just artharitus. I told her it's Diabetes pain and she argued with me. I said I DO have RA, AND, spinal injuries and a motor neuron disease. But, THIS is Diabetic complications. Each disease I named, she got happier then hell. I could just see her nursing me back andgiving me the wrong meds. She's a horror show, that one.
Pat, it sounds like you have Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy. See if you can ask your doctor about Gabapenton/Neurontin and Lyrica. There are also some natural alternatives to these meds. I'm just not sure how those would interact with your diabetes.
ReplyDeleteWhat if you literally had mouths on your feet? Then you could eat stuff off the floor without having to bend down.
ReplyDeleteDiabetes is a bitch. When people here you have it, the first thing they say is you should watch your diet. hey really don't know that diet or not, when things in the body start to react to the diabetes, all hell breaks loose and diet doesn't have a damn thing to do about it. The pancreas has gone haywire by this time and is so hard to control. Pat, I'm more worried about your diabetes than all the other things you have and I know you have a lot. What I'm saying is I know the effects of diabetes very well (and I don't know a lot about your other ailments).
ReplyDeleteI know you will do what you have to do and I know how determined you are. I know you will do the best you can for yourself because of Lis.
I am sending you my best thoughts (vibes). Hell, it can't hurt. Maybe a spell could even help. At this point, I would be willing to try anything. Beware of cuts or any damage to your feet. Toenails are bad, take care of them. I know you know all about this already so I will leave you to attend to yourself.
We all care about you and like any friend, we you hurt, we hurt.
Thanks, and today is the weekend, of course, so I can't see the doc unless I go to the ER. I still have no feeling in my feet, but, burning, but, I can use the walker. I posted that damn post too quick as there's more. I am fighting Lissa's fight too. I'll make a new post.
ReplyDeleteDan, that made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteps..I already take 9 Gabapenton a day.
ReplyDeleteI can't understand a world where a mother takes pleasure in her child's ill health. I think I'm as sorry for that as I am for your actual issues. You can't seem to catch a break.
ReplyDeleteI feel terrible for you, Pat. I have been worried, and now I am more so. Diabetes is a bitch kitty. No offense to bitch kitties everywhere. The numbness and pins and needles in your feet is a very scary thing. I don't think you use insulin, do you? It's a really good thing you have Lissa living with you. Despite the fact she is really young, she loves you, and will look out for you, as much as she is able. (As she showed when your mom came over.)
ReplyDeleteIt's very strange that your doctor said he didn't know how people got durable medical equipment. You can't be the first person in his practice to need a walker or a wheelchair. Oh, well, as long as you are taken care of. That picture of Chi Chi riding shotgun is so cute. I'm sure he would make a very comfy cushion to sit on if you suddenly needed to stop. ;)
Please be careful, Pat. I am sending healing thoughts and prayers (you know that is what I do) your way. Please take care.
