Lissa strung beads this weekend and made a necklace. She did it all by herself, which I thought was pretty good. This is a child who was declared legally blind a year ago. Pffft..I knew better. Grandma's always know better. She liked the finished project so much she decided to keep it for herself. Good move, Lis. She was wearing clothes she picked out..a Barbie nightie, Little Mermaid underpants, and blue snow boots, which she wore to bed. Hey, I'm not the kiddie fashion police, whatever makes her happy.

She was so good this weekend I could have kept her all week, but, her mom came and got her a bit ago. She was like one of those sitcom kids, you know the ones..they do everything they're supposed to, ask intelligent questions and give adorable precocious answers to yours. I'd brag, but, it's not usually like that. Lis can try a person like no kid I've ever met. But, lucky for me..not this weekend. She was a joy.

She loves getting into my things, like those old cabinets full of crap. I just let her do it because I don't even know what's in those things anymore. Ancient dolls, pictures, books, pottery, depression glass, candlesticks..her favorite is a collection of old glass balls. Crystal balls, old fishnet floats and paperweights. I figure if I don't even remember what I have, then how can I miss it if she breaks it?

She LOVES telling jokes and her jokes are the typical kid kind that are just weird observations or screwy words strung together like "The table has a door! Ha ha!" and I said, no that's actually a leaf and she went "Tables don't got leaves, Dawma..duuuuuh!" Fine, I know when to pick my battles and that's not it..nor is wearing snow boots to bed or painting your fingernails all different colors or insisting that french fry is pronounced Popeye. Today I have no battles..I'm just happy.

I agree it is a pen, but what is the red thing? and I know this has been said already, but her nails and hands are freaking gross. I think I just vomited a little in my mouth. eeeeeegghh

You have the most adorable granddaughter.
I just loved that 1st picture - the intent in her eyes and the concentration on your face is priceless. She did do an awesome job and she was so proud and it showed.
I know she can try you DD, I have read the emails lol, but I also know without a doubt how precious she is to you and how much you enjoy having her with you.
You are a great grandma and she just shines with you.
It is so beautiful to see how happy she is.
Crystal.
what a GEM!!! you would have wished that this weekend just went on forever!! hows Dawg?
Dawg may have found his person..I'll update on him later.
My fondest memories were my g'ma letting me go thru all her fabulous costume jewelry! OMG! The best stuff & her hats! All the beautiful hat boxes. She said I was the only one allowed to do that too! I think I was the only one interested anyway. I still have some of my favorite earrings & other goodies of hers that she did eventually give me. If you EVER want Lissa to have anything of yours DD, give it to her when she is old enough to appreciate it & you are still young enough to know that she got it!!
I will remember that. Thanks. We love going through all my costume jewelry together and playing "fancy lady."
Lissa is so cute.
