I don't know why anyone thinks these photos from Martha's blog are strange. What else are you supposed to do with your big dead dog? I used two sleeping bags zipped together and a back hoe for my St. Bernard. So Martha can tie a bow..we knew that already.

I think thats beautiful and the sweet doggies sniffing at it is so precious. They miss Paw Paw too! Doggies know stuff! In fact the grave marker looks like she scratched it out herself with a chisel or a screwdriver or something. It's totally not a professional marker. And thats what makes it great. Martha is great for showing us this. Her deep love for that doggie is very touching and I'm about to cry. I love it. It's precious.
I stand by my stew remark.
Crabbie thinks everything revolves around food! How much do you weigh? I'm just sayin'...'cuz usually only obese people think that way.
I guess you're supposed to let the other dogs in the "pack" smell the dead one. Apparently dogs understand death more than we do and aren't reduced to the blubbering, useless blobs that we humans are when our doggies die.
Anon 9:02: It makes me want to cry too. I just love my animals. I have an 18 year old cat who's thin and going deaf and senile. I am sad whenever I hear about anyone's beloved pet dying. I've only ever owned cats; I can't even imagine what it's like to have a big dog die--what a hole that must leave in one's life! Poor Martha...first her Mom in November, and now Paw Paw.

awww! I didn't know Martha had Frenchies. I love French Bulldogs. When it comes time for another k9 to enter my home, that is what I have been planing on adopting.
RIP PAW PAW.
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Casey J: I love that. Thank you for sharing with us. Waahhhh!!!!
Okay I'm bawling now. I carved a rock for my cat Simon after he died, and hubby put it in his grave on his 1st anniversary. Some people don't understand. But that's ok.
