I find it very ironc that it's the people that claim religion, God and Jesus to be central to their lives who picket gay funerals, put white hoods over their faces and burn crosses on the lawns of black community members and call innocent bloggers nasty names.

so i also used to be a jehovah's witness. i''m now a happy atheist and not a huge fan of religion in general, but i'm pretty sure that jehovah's witnesses are still christians. just your average fundamentalist protestant sect. and i'm also pretty sure that they don't smile on tons of sex and abortions, since tons of sex is why i was kicked out and totally ostracized at 18. weird.

Apparently you don't consider your readers to be "friends"-- because you lay your anti-religion opinion on us regularly. And anyone, friend or foe, who truly believed in God would never put up with all the religious put-downs.
I get it. You don't believe in "God". And you're happy! Happy! Now we all know. Can't you just let it go at that and get back to the business of celebrity snarking without dragging religion (or lack thereof) into it?
dear anon 10:22, as a person who has beliefs that are non-traditional (i.e. non- judeo-christian), i can tell you that i, like i'm sure DD is as well, am bombarded with constant references to a god and an afterlife that i have no interest in. if just mentioning your beliefs is an attempt at conversion, then people try to convert me every single day of my life. and well meaning people take offense when they tell you they'll pray for you, and you say "thanks but no thanks." here on her own personal website, DD has every right to do and say as she pleases, and it should would be nice if HER OWN site were a safe space where every mention of religion didn't elicit a cry of "but what about me!?" from the "believers" out there. since it's her space. and you're just a visitor.

anon 4:24: I am anon 12:36...U will understand what I am saying. Yes, JW's do believe in JC as their savior, they dont celebrate X-mas so many mistake that for not recognizing him. They do, and all their prayers are ended with his name at their meetings. They do not accept sex outside of marriage, be it with unmarried people or people who are married to others. & yes many are disfellowshipped for it. But sometimes it is swept under the rug, esp if it's a family member of an elder or a Bethelite. Sex offenders and child molesters victims have been being paid off for years by the Watch Tower Society. It has recently exploded into a news story. They have stopped having Tuesday night Bookstudy because of it, which were mostly held in private homes. Too much liability and the elders were losing control of those meetings and what was being said. This is a big story for ex JW's or even for active ones. But just sayin'...all religions are the same, they suppress the people and train them and brainwash them. You become a puppet. You are told not to think for yourself. Many non believers are much better people than the bible thumpers I have known. Believeing in the bible or w/e does not necessarily make you a good person. That comes from somewhere else. Good is good, bad is bad. It's in every organization and religion. People are just human. & I am anon because I like it that way and I have never cared to get registered on here!
hey anon 6:45, it's the other former j-w. i do understand what you're saying, i have never known anyone who had problems with those in power being sex offenders, but i don't doubt for a minute that it happens. there's such a power imbalance, and so much time spent in private with old men on a power trip. but just fyi, at least not all congregations have stopped having home based book studies on tuesday nights. at least in rural sw pennsylvania, it's a weekly occurence. and some of the things that were said at these meetings on tuesdays... you know, in the larger congegration the main powerful families were all black, and there was such resentment and such hateful racist bile spewed at them behind their backs it was just sickening. obviously, this is just my experience. not saying it's like that everywhere.
