New Pete pics

Pete is doing well in his new home, now. Man, I'll tell you, I knew he'd be a little shy with new people but I figured he'd be fine in a day or two. Nope..he was totally traumatized by our separation. He wouldn't come out of his box, wasn't eating right and pulled out big chunks of his hair. I had to go over there and hold him and talk to him. After a few visits with me he finally started acting like himself again and he's now doing much better. He's living on the screened in porch, one step closer to the back yard and being wild someday. He still uses his cage as his comfort zone, but, found out fresh backyard peaches are a good thing. And so is having your own chew stick from the yard. I keep telling him he can have a whole tree someday. I'm glad he's alright, he had me wracked with guilt. Who knew one human with food was any better than another human with food? Squirrels love thier mothers. At least Pete does. There's a tree with your name on it, Pete. I swear.

You should keep him as a pet! Clearly Pete doesn't want to be a "real" squirrel.
