My mom keeps putting these little containers of water all around the yard. I asked her why she does that and she said it was for the butterflies. So, I said why can't they drink out of the birdbaths like every other critter around here? She said she's noticed that they drink off the ground. She had a point, I'd noticed that too, but, they still won't drink from the dumb containers on the ground..so I looked it up.

Why do butterflies like mud? "Because like me...butterflies don't swim all that well. So anywhere they can safely land and get water with out drowning is good. Consider taking a shallow bowl and filling it with marbles, or pretty rocks, and then fill it with just enough water to level the rocks, but not to submerge them."

Okay, now I know and I'll buy her some marbles and I won't even make a joke about her and her marbles. Heh. I thought I'd pass the info around in case you want to water your butterflies too.

I've noticed that people who seem a little crazy just observe and respond to different things than most people do.
I've gained a lot of respect for "them" and have changed my whole opinion about people over things like this. In fact, I'd rather be like her than like the average dough head who can't find anything more important to do than shop and watch tv.
They drown themselves when they see Mariah coming.

DD- you should get Lissa the butterfly thing where they send you caterpillars and they turn into butterflies...it was alot of fun, and you get to look at them up close. We put orange slices in it and they LOVED them.....sb
Pat, I'm going to repeat myself once again... " You need to write a book about your family"... I love the stories when you talk about your mom/Lissa/Eric etc.... :)
