Travis Barker and DJ AM critical after plane crash

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and DJ AM were critically injured in a Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed four people, authorities said Saturday. Hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits said Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, were in critical condition at a burn center in Augusta, Ga. There were 6 people on the plane and Travis and Adam are the only survivors. My thoughts go out to them and their families.

I hope for his childrens sake he is able to pull through. Maybe this will help them realize some things in their lives need to change.

dLISTED says that Travis was trying to get his assistant, Chris, back home to his wife who went into labor. So sad.

That's right, and it's a heartbreaking tragedy; Chris' new wife went into labor last evening and Travis said he 'do whatever it took' to get him to the hospital in time for the delivery.

She delivered a healthy baby this morning.

Apparently Travis was severely burned "below the waist" while Adam's burns were above, and in particular, "to his face". According to reports, Adam is by far in worse condition.

Unfortunately, these two aren't out of the woods by a long shot. Severe burns are EXTREMELY difficult to survive with a high rate of post-op fatality. Quite often, critical burn patients are placed into induced comas to aid in their recovery. I won't be surprised if this is case for Adam.

I hope they pull through... and they, along with their families will continue to be in my thoughts.

*UPDATE*

As was previously suggested, as of Saturday night, September 20, Adam ("DJ AM") has been placed into a medically-induced coma.

Heavy, Heavy-duty.

THE LATEST~

Just in case anyone's interested and hasn't been following the case anywhere else:

There was a presser early this morning at the Still Burn Center in SC and it was reported by the attending physicians that *both* Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein and Travis Barker are expected to "make a full and complete recovery."

Very good news, indeed.

I wouldn't put much stock into that. Burns are very serious and infection is a very real possibility as there is no skin to keep it out. I hope they are ok and do make a full recovery, but I know the reality. Then again, I'm sure they have the resources for the best doctors out there.
