Enough With The Gay-Bashing...

C-Span today named James Buchanan the worst president of all-time. Worse than George W. Bush. Worse than Herbert Hoover. Worse than that bastard Kennedy who almost let the commies put their missiles in Cuba cause he was too busy sticking it to Marilyn Monroe in between injections for his VD-related back pains. Okay, so, Buchanan's inaction brought about the Civil War. What, he's the first president who ever fucked up and caused a war? So did Jefferson, and everyone thinks he's the shit. Sorry, but I'm tired of Buchanan being bashed. Clearly, there are people in the media who have it in for the guy...and I know why. Cause he was gay. It's homophobia pure and simple. C-Span can ram it up their fag-hating asses. Abraham Lincoln the greatest president? Why? Cause he wore a tall hat? Cause his wife was a looney-tunes who held seances in the White House? Cause his son croaked? Total bullshit.

He was one of the worst Presidents, in my opinion, because of his inability to recognize problems and act accordingly. He was a lawyer and a career politician elected multiple times to lower offices before becoming Pres. Also, he came from a wealthy family and never struggled; out of touch with the common folk. Not unlike Hollywood giving political advice, or our elected leaders incompetence (still). Government should never be in the business of commerce, and back then slaves were considered livestock regretably. He fucked up naming Kansas a slave state and not recognizing that the fall of the whig party would doom his future suport for legislation. Big Government only handicaps growth. How does Barney Frank still have a job after Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac floundered under his watch and he NEVER sounded the alarm?.

Then again, James Buchanan's screw-up gave way to the war of northern agression and the end of slavery; so may be he is not so bad.

really, he was gay? where is any evidence on this...i'm interesting in this theory...never heard it before...

i would rank hoover #1 for bad....then george w....then andrew johnson...

Anonymous said...

hate george bush... but i must have to say... in about 8-10 years we could find out he was one of the best presidents. economy was booming throughout his term. The reason this whole housing crisis happened is because of the bill that Clinton passed during his term. It's funny because the media doesn't tell you that, now do they?

Wow lot's of republicans on here today :P anyway I think Crabbie and DD are hysterical (i.e. it's a joke people :)

Anonymous said...

gw is an idiot. a ridiculous clown.

Anonymous said...

Oh Miss Tia. Did you get that opinion by yourself or did you just take DD's, as usual. Bush bashing is your modus vivendi it seems like. Without his commitment and the sacrifice of many Americans and Iraqis and Afghans, our enemies would have been even more emboldened, as they were in the Carter and Clinton administration.

Remember Carter?. I don't blame you; who would want to. Did you ever think Iraq would have elections and democracy growing after all the oposition the war got back home?.

Anonymous said...

hmmmm...i don't oft bash bush on this site as it's not mentioned too often....i believe this post was by crabbie so how/why am i taking dd's opinion??

obviously you didn't read that i said hoover was my #1 bad prez...then george w.....i suppose you think it's okay he lied about iraq having WMD? he neglected the US economy for 8 years while he focused on destroying the middle east? and my #3 is andrew johnson...

bush & johnson are very close....they could be tied for #2....

Anonymous said...

i'm not a republican. registered dem actually. i just see things in the middle thats all.

Anonymous said...

i agree.. jimmy carter.. one of the WORST presidents.

Anonymous said...

EVERYONE believed he had WMD because he defied UN inspectors at every turn, (UK, Germany, Foreign intelligence services, CLINTON, GORE, etc) except they did nothing to punish anyone who attacked us during their tenure and therefore emboldened America haters.
Is promoting democracy and overthrowing brutal dictators destroying the middle east?. I guess it is if you sympathize with terrorists and dictators.
I did multiple tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan as a Marine, and understand that your nostrils never flared with the smell of feces and blood all over walls in torture houses run by Al Qaeda and Feddayin. That is just a small example of the horror that Iraq was before their Democratic system took hold. Your weltanschau is one of a privileged person living in the comfortable cradle created by people who do, instead of talk.
You are blessed to be where you are instead of praying America will come to free you.

Anonymous said...

In what universe is it sane that James Buchanan is WORSE then who just vacated office? Seriously thats screwed up.

Hate Clinton for what you view as 'immoral behavior with ML", but he still doesn't touch JFK for the ruled by his penis mentality, and 90% of the population treat all of that family as if they are royality.

Anonymous said...

weltanscha...huh? what language is that??

who made more of the world hate the USA? BUSH!

Anonymous said...

6:38 read clintons book, because he had requested a hit out on binladen long before he left office, because intel of the time showed he was a threat to the US, and cliton was given no support by the same ones in the capitol who are war mongering now.

Bush did not invade iraq with the intentions of 'freeing its people', he twisted it to the public and turned it into that mission once he has no choice but admit he was wrong on the reasons he declared war to begin with.

Anonymous said...

oh and GORE was never president! George W. stole that election with his daddy's supreme court picks....

democracy? is that why women are still basically considered chattels in iraq? that's democracy?

apparently you are one of those repubs who believe if you don't agree you're a terrorist...nice narrow mindedness there...

The Carter years were a nightmare. If he had gone into Iran and gotten out our embassy personnel when he should have, things would be very different today. But the peanut farmer wouldn't do it. Instead he told us to put on our sweaters, turn down our heat and wait in line for gas (every other day as I recall).

You know, I'd like to have Bush Sr. as a neighbor, not Clinton, and Bush Jr. wouldn't be too bad as a neighbor. But I grew to dislike his head in the sand policies and his total disconnect with the regular people of the country big time. I sincerely hate sending our kids to war and if we have to do it we should go in as strong and efficient as we can and then get the hell out.

Buch was gay? I never read that and never heard that. I think you're projecting here.

Anonymous said...

Read Cinton's book?!. That's a joke. You think one of the most astute politicians ever would incriminate himself? "definition of is", remember that?.

UN resolutions authorized the invasion and a multinational force was formed and deployed, I know 'cause I was there.

Sandy Berger (or burglar from the NSA papers he stuffed in his socks!), declined to hit Bin Laden-that is fact.

Weltanschau is german for "view of the world". If the rest of the world hates us; why are they dying to get here?.

Go to Normandy and visit the memorial. I cried for a day and still choke-up at the valor of the men who died there fighting against Nazi's. The people there have not forgotten either, and thank every American who visits. Short memories are to blame for ill will towards us.

Women vote in Iraq now, not before. Women walk in front of men in Afghanistan because of land mines.

I am not narrow minded, I am objective. I give you facts; you shrill talking points.

clinton put a hit out on bin-laden!? are you kidding me? clinton HAD bin-laden.. not once.. but TWICE... and declined to do anything. he's a shitbag

For my two cents as a non-American, Bush gets my vote for one of the worst US presidents. It was obvious to the rest of the world (maybe because of more information in the media?) that the invasion of Iraq was founded on a grab for oil. Forget humanitarianism. If that were the case, the US would be all over Zimbabwe and the Congo right now.

Iraq was about oil and keeping the prices low so Americans could continue driving everywhere in large-ass vehicles (see, we all know that the US economy will fail if the auto industry is 'allowed' to go under, right? Right? So make sure you keep drivin'!). But I digress...

Just as the French and Germans had secured a contract with Iraq for oil, the US stepped in and introduced enough kaos that those contracts were never fulfilled. Instead, the oil has been piped onto vessels and shipped to the US. I also remember seeing palettes of US dollars being delivered to Iraq by the US gov't that no one could account for, but it disappeared REAL quick. I'm not making this up. Please, read the Economist.

Though there are a lot of wonderful things about the US, let's not be naive here. The changes since Bush came to power are not good. Now when I fly overseas, I make every effort to avoid going through an American airport, simply because of the extra hassle with security, privacy of information, and that US airports seem to have become targets for terrorists.

End of rant.

O.K. I'm not going to argue politics. As an American History teacher, I find it a waste of time. No one rally cares what you think and you can never change anyones mind, so why try. You also tend to make a lot of enemies.

I just have one question--HOW THE HECK IS ANDREW JOHNSON?

Anonymous said...

Pipelines of oil redirected? You must be talking about the illegal sale of oil to Syria and Jordan with which Saddam was filling his pockets and fundingb his war on Iran.

Oh yeah, the Sunnis and Shiites would have to be almost as naive as you to let anyone steal their ONLY resource. The war in Iraq ended up being the forward edge of the battle area against AlQaeda. They got whipped so bad they had to keep records in chalk because their leaders were being taken out so quickly.

The UN and the French shit all over Africa, so bring on the criticism. No one did more for that continent than Pres Bush (fact acknowledged even by Live aid concert promoters).

If we want cheaper oil we can drill here and have EPA oversight and Corps of Engineer labor. Instead we would rather give away billions to loosen up world trade.

Who the fuck comes running at every catastrophe around the globe to help?. Tsunami? no problem, we are here. earthquake? we got you.

The car companies are going down because union costs for their pension plans are sky high and politicians are too weak to let true business plans cut the fat from companies and have sound financial strategies.

Oil? that was the reason you believe we went to war?. I am not at all surprised by your comments considering the biased news I would catch while in Iraq. Media pushes an anti American agenda.
Check www.camera.org

Look at Chirac's legal problems over bribery scams with Saddam, as well as UN workers including Koffi's son.

Look pal, hate America if you want; but at least get your facts straight. All you did was regurgitate socialist garbage. We could have turned the place into a fucking parking lot like the Russians do wherever they go, including their own schools (Beslan).

Pallets of money...right. where did you get that, the BBC?.

You'll have to excuse Miss Tia, as usual she got her facts wrong with Andrew Johnson, you know; Karl Rove's great Grandfather who stole the election way back in the day.

Miss Tia; Rota tu volubilis, mecum omnes plangite. That sums up your rhetoric.

Anonymous said...

@8:10 First, I'm not your 'pal'. I don't need to 'get my facts straight.' The facts were clear from the beginning that there were no WMD in Iraq... As you well know, having been there, the Taliban and Al Qaeda are based in Afganistan and Pakistan, NOT Iraq.

"Tsunami? no problem, we are here. earthquake? we got you.'

Interesting. How about Katrina? Hmmmm... That was on Bush's watch, too.

BTW - I did check out www.camera.org What a load of crock! I've never read such one-sided journalism that smacked decisively of the same arrogance that put the US in Iraq - trying to blow holes one-by-one on supposed first-hand accounts of the Israeli-Lebannon conflict. Funny how there wasn't a word there about the chemical warfare used on civilians. I suggest you try reading www.jossip.com, www.cbc.ca or any international news blog

Again, I don't hate the US or Americans. Far from it! Some of my closest friends are American. I just hope with Obama there's a change in international policy. (cause we were talking about the worst US president - Bush, right?) It would improve the global economic and security situation immensely. We're all hopeful for the future. That is all.

Saddam gassed the Kurds (fact). Saddam would not allow UN inspectors to verify(fact), and that is all he had to do to avoid a war and debunk your oil theories.

Saddam displaced the marsh Arabs(fact), and hunted them down until they had to live next to the mass gravesites where Shiites were buried in Al-Zubayr (I was there) to see the hundreds of corpses being dug up and impossible to identify.

Jossip?! He is a celebrity blogger!! No wonder you get twisted. It is a gossip site, not a news site. Come on man, are you seriously getting news from failed wannabe Perez Hilton's.

Iraq became the FEBA (read my earlier post for the meaning of the acronym) for the fight against Al Qaeda, hence; Al-Qaeda in Iraq was led by foreigners. The Sunni awakening Council made up of Iraqis, aligned themselves with us to kick the shit out of the terrorists and sent them packing back to Syria, Yemen, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Palestine to name a few.

Katrina (sleeping Governor Blanco (D)was replaced by Gov. Jindal(R)). The majority of the rescues were performed by US Coast Guard and National Guard, while corrupt politicians (Rep. William Jefferson (D)) and the Police were stealing Cadillacs.
Gov. Blanco's buses just flooded and she did nothing. That is why she chose not to run for re-election. Even Mayor Nagin was largely blamed. Federal Govt is there to assist State Govt.

Well, it is clear to me that you get your info from shady sources. Obama may bring change, we shall see. I support him because he is my President and that is my duty, but I make up my mind when I put my boots on the ground and sweat, bleed and cry reality, not some gossip bloggers agenda.

I don't doubt your good intentions, but question your knowledge of the facts, since you seem to have none. PAL.

The UN never did and still does not support this war in iraq, so your dead wrong about all they had to do to 'avoid' war. Bush would have found a reason regardless, because this was and still is about oil. Oil/Auto industry and supporting industries and services, without it the US econ collapses. The war, the present 'stimulous' packages, helloo wake the hell up, it's all tied together.

I for one completely understand how you feel. It really annoys the hell out of me when people call me a racist just because I point out how stingy all Jews are, or a homophobe just because I won't let my gay friends around my young children (it COULD rub off, you know!)

Some of my closest friends are Gay and/or Jewish, so that right there proves I don't discriminate! Just because I make them sit at a seperate table during dinner doesn't mean anything, I just don't want to get my linens dirty. Geez.

OK

Miss Tia. God bless you and your opinions; we agree to disagree-I know you are not dumb.

@11:23

UN resolution 1441 specifically and UNANIMOUSLY authorizes use of force stating Iraq in "material breach of cease fire not only related to WEAPONS of MASS DESTRUCTION".

That was Saddam's last chance. Unanimously approved by the UN!! They had a HQ there which was blown up at the beginning of the war and killed the Ambassador to Iraq. Come on man, I have proven you wrong every step of the way here by stating my facts and giving you the avenue to see for yourself where I get my information.

You say you don't hate America, but it sure is obvious that your views are not only silly (oil being our prime objective--I am sure OPEC is standing by to fill our ships with contraband oil), your theories are easily debunked.

Newsflash foreigner; you are wrong. I give you footnoted facts and you give me the same rubbish spewed out without a single shred of proof or source. Oh yeah--gossip sites.

Face it; you have been brainwashed because of your inability to look at facts. Your ideas are driven by your own ideology.

It is their own twisted way of somehow giving credence to their idiotic and unsupported views.

Anyone who can read can clearly see that you gave examples, have experience, and actually have a basis for your claims; our dear "foreigner" however has nothing but bullshit and tripe to spew. Don't get worked up over a simpleton like that-- the rest of us can tell the substance from the slop.

@ 11:55 & 12:10 I hope you realize that there are more than one person responding to your posts. So I think we can drop personal attacks, thanks. (lowest form of intelligence, since you brought it up).

BTW, before we go bashing gossip sites, I made the reference to jossip (among others that were ignored) because, uh, isn't this a gossip site?! (Doh!) Minor detail...

And while we're on the subject of "bullshit and tripe", the UN has NEVER sanctioned the US's invasion of Iraq. The US has been in default of the funds it owes to the UN to support UN SANCTIONED global security activities for decades. The US refuses to pay because if it does, it must comply with the UN policy on human rights! You know what that means, no invading other countries...

nobody believed that Saddam had WMDs. The weapon inspectors had sensors that could find a AA rocket over a distance of 20 miles - just because of the trace chemicals leaking from it. And they found NOTHING. Interestingly, you didn't find anything either.

Oh and Al Qaeda? They were Saddams worst enemy. They had NO power in Iraq until you brain dead marines removed Saddam and replaced him with one of his former allies.

Well done! If Bush wanted to fight terrorism, you should have invaded Saudi Arabia - the biggest backer of terrorism. Financially, logistically, man power. Where did most of the plane hijackers came from 7 years and a couple of month ago?
I tell you: Saudi Arabia.

The only ones who 'beleifed' the crap about WMD were UK and USA - and you still have not put the war criminal and liar Bush to trial for that lying.
