I have completely changed my mind on this issue after watching a special about the area and all the children starving and practically living off dirt. This little girl would have food to eat, a wonderful place to live, education, safety and probably double the years of life if she were allowed to be adopted by Madonna. I tried to put my personal feelings about gristle aside here and just think of what it would mean for the little girl.
I agree. The child should be adopted by Madonna, but, Madonna can't act the way she does. That judge put her in her place and cost her some time. She'll get the kid..eventually.
1:58 the biggest concern that the country (poorest in the world) has with foregin adoptions is that they are ripe for child pandoring. Foreginers adopt, take them out of the country and into child slavery, prostitution, work camps etc. And it's this reason they have the law requiring the perspectives parents to live there for 18 months prior to finalizing the adoptions.
There is no question that Madonna can financially provide a life this child couldn't even imagine in compairison. It's about old madge thinking she's literally above the law and can do what ever she damn well pleases.
They have every right to demand of her what they would of anyone else as well as question the emotional stability she can provide considering her recent divorce, choosen work schedule and well publicized displays of trying to recapture her decades past youth.
I have mixed feelings on this one. While it's true that little Mercy would have advantages beyond belief-- at what cost?
Madonna is by all accounts an iron-fisted, cold-hearted, crazy control freak who runs 'Chez Ciccone' like an army base (with 100 paid foot soldiers).
Although Lourdes appears to be developing into a well-adjusted, lovely young lady she's not an adult just yet so we really don't know what the final result of being raised largely by nannies and "mannies" in that nutbin with Madonna ruling the roost. Same goes for Rocco.
And even though I'm leaning favorably towards this adoption --even Gristle is probably better than an orphanage-- it's important to remember that both Lourdes and Rocco have their bio-dads ~very~ much in their lives. Hopefully Guy is giving David Banda every bit as much love and attention as Rocco. From the way David spoke to his bio-dad during their brief meeting, he clearly loves and identifies Guy as his father.
But what about Mercy? Guy's gone and with the animosity between he and Madonna it would be ludicrous for him to take a parenting role with a new child. And with Madonna now single it's a sure bet she'll have a very active social life in NYC so there will be more 'nannying' than ever.
It's my hope that little Mercy James gets the love and attention she's going to need from a DEDICATED PARENT-- not just the obvious tangible advantages that come with the package.
Is Madonna seeking to adopt this child for the right reasons... or for righteous publicity?
i have to say my mouth DROPPED when i heard a judge from the poorest country in the world said NO to madonna. for fucks sake! a poor woman from a poor country says NO to one of the richest most powerful 'stars' in the world. that judge has balls AND brains because she saw through all the glitz and celebrity. that takes a whole lot more insight than the combined populations of the rich free countries of the world. but i know for sure that madonna will win in the end and this judge will probably end up with no future.
Shouldn't Madonna be holding the girls hand, instead of an assistant? The kid looks terrified.
