Guess who's getting rave reviews for her acting? Yup - Mariah Carey. And I don't mean the acting she does every time she's around Nick Cannon - the stuff where she's pretending he doesn't make her want to hurl - I mean the acting she did in a movie. Precious is the name of it, some low-budget thing about a teenage girl living in Harlem. It won a bunch of stuff at Sundance and now it's playing in Cannes. Everyone says Mariah is great in it. Well, we'll see. The last thing I saw Mariah in was that Zohan mess with Adam Sandler, and she was playing herself, which is what she does every day starting when she wakes up in the morning and switches off the humidifiers. And let's face it - going up against Adam Sandler isn't exactly an intimidating challenge for a performer. Avoid completely annoying the audience and they'll think you totally stole the scene from him.

I cannot bear this dumb bitch, but having seen a couple of clips from this movie, it does look like she did a good job. Granted, I am sure they are only showing the best stuff, but it was still pretty good. Who knew plain and ghetto suited her so well? Umm, me.
In the preview all Mariah does is sit there looking like horse shit. Precious looks good, with or without her dumb ass.
The people giving her "rave" reviews are paid by the studio to do so.
P.S. IMHO, films that win awards at Sundance are ipso facto shitty. The moment I see that notation on a DVD, I run in the other direction. American Splendor, You Can Count on Me and Brothers McMullen are the exceptions.
She's obviously been eating well lately . . .
I really can't stand her usually but DD I agree, the movie does look like it's going to be great. And I think she looks really beautiful in the dress she has on in this pic. For once she wore something flattering that fit instead of stuffing herself into some spandex 2 sizes too small and looking like a fat sausage.
