Dinner for one..well, two if I count BeeBee

Not very formal, but, I'm eating here in front of the computer, sharing with BeeBee. She has her own little plate. You know, it's odd, I haven't eaten much meat lately. I haven't wanted it. Casey and I found the coolest little restaurant the other day and we had chicken and wild rice wraps. They were so good and the coffee was out of this world...but, other than that I haven't had meat in several weeks. I think it's because the garden is giving me what I crave right now. My grocery bill is almost non existant. The Brandywine tomatoes are ripe. Big HUGE salmony pink tomatoes, they have an odd color and their leaf shape and everything is different. They are heirlooms, not hybrids. They are really good, but, honestly..I don't see that they're really better tasting than the others. So far, the Sweet 100's are my favorite, those little suckers have some bite to them. But, I'm still waiting on Celebrity, Lemon Boy and a few others. We'll see. I sure am having a good time tasting them. Those little new potatos are so cute! Some are marble size, the purple ones are real sweet. They taste different. The green beans are still producing every two days like clockwork. Ummm. I ate a little and typed a little and now I'm stuffed. So good, I could eat more, but, I won't. I'll have some ice cream later. BeeBee will get some too, rats love dairy products. She won't tell me which tomato tastes better, she seems to like them all.

Hmm, next time I do a post about food I am going to try and remember to get out my good plates. My old depression set. You guys are my company. The rain stopped and it's hot and steamy again. That sucks.

Are you growing any peppers? I eat serranos and chile petin mostly with tomato, garlic, onion and cilantro (some lime juice if you like), salt and pepper. My sister grew some habaneros, but they were just too hot for me. Maybe in some jerk seasoning. Love your blog.

I need to cook like you. It's much healthier than the meat and chiken we have here at least every other day. I am sick of the smell of meat. I'm going to the farmer's market tomorrow to pick up veggies and fruit. My garden isn't producing anything but a few peppers and tomatos.

Oh, I especially like the butter next to the plate ;)

LOl yeah. I could have hid that, but, It Buuuuuutter. How do people live without butter? And salt??

Yes, I grow lots of peppers, I only eat the bells. I grow the rest for purdy.

Aw, Naseem, you're gonna have eggplant. I spotted it.

I just took Mom over some tomatos and her house smells like big time cat shit. Gawd that's gross. I came home and lit incense. I may never eat again. Fucking nasty.

You inspired me Pat. I was sitting here wondering what I was going to have for dinner. Nothing seemed right. I was chatting with my friend about it and then your plate of food came into view.
Tomatoes! That is what I am going to have. So I made a nice big tomato and onion salad with vinagrette. Then the little kid was complaining. What can I have? So we decided that we were really in the mood for Ramen Noodles. So I made them, snipped some chives at the back door and we had a feast.
No meat in the meal.

I love heirloom tomatoes. There are many that I grow. Brandywine of course. Mortgage lifters are huge ones,Black Krims and Black Princes are deep deep purple.
Here is a site where you can see all the of different varieties.

Thanks, Heidi..whoa! Those are some wild looking tomatos. Those black and white ones would be so fun to grow.

Anon, I can set this blog to private so you can't even read here. Is that what you want?

I get those purple potatoes at the farmers market. I like fingerling potatoes also. Put them in a pan, sprinkle olive oil, sea salt, and pepper on them and roast them. Sometimes throw a few garlic cloves in there to roast too.
Mmm. Farmers market is tomorrow. Going to see if they have them in yet.

I've never seen a purple potato, but it looks really good! Now I'm going to have to find some.

Pat,
That looks very good. Your work has paid off. My garden looks like grass. I'd say that I suck, but, really I'm just lazy.
Are you growing cucumbers? Tonight, I'm making cucumber salad with dill and yogurt sauce.
(I bought a bunch of cuc's at Aldi for 49 cents a piece.)So cheap and so good.

What is the dark thing your fork's resting on?

I love the big ol' stick of butter next to all that healthy stuff too. I wish I liked tomatoes. Everyone loves them and they look so good, but I just hate them. Glad you are enjoying them though! I'm inspired to try to do some gardening!

I could taste those tomatoes. Fresh picked string beans, new potatoes with real butter. Perfection! Wash it all down with sweet tea and a sprig of garden grown mint and I'd be good to go.

Lets have Tia's lemonade and icecream pie for dessert!

10 doll its a dark purple potato. They are sweet, they taste like they have extra sugars. They're good, but, I can't eat many of them. They're all real small right now and I don't even have to peel them.

yea, you dont need meat with that delicious spread! eat all you want! Its free and the best! I am jelez! fresh green beans are my favorite meal with red potoates and diced ham & onions. The butter kills me. Gotta have it! Lots of pepper too! Awesome!! me too!

My body is telling me to eat like this right now. I eat whatever I crave. Been known to have doritos and red licorice for dinner.

Oh! I have had an entire box of Cheez-Its for supper before! Women can eat non-food things and be happy. Men need meat. We dont need it so much. I looove fresh raw veggies and eat them everyday. A man cannot live on that either. Women are far superior in that way!

now you're just bragging!!! LOL! Tomatoe sandwiches with salt pepper and a little mayo. To. Die. For

Yum! I'm jealous.

That's why I love living alone. I can have cigaretts, coke, hot tamale candy and House reruns for supper if I want to.
