Another old water main broke, this time it was on the good side of town so it got a lot of attention. It managed to empty the whole water tower though. We now have a city wide water warning issued to avoid the water. We can't drink it (like anyone would anyway, it never passes tests), but, now we can't wash dishes with it or cook with it. It can't be ingested for a week. It's poop water from the river, I guess. All the towns around here pump chemicals into the sewer water, let it stew awhile, dump it back in the river and then fill up the towers with the same water they poop in. Nice. Some of it comes from ground wells which are all polluted with Anhydrox Amonia, a chemical fertilizer used to grow cow corn and make meth. So that mud puddle is cleaner than our towns water supply. They need a better system. It's disgusting. You can boil the bacteria out, but, you can never get the chemicals out. I brushed my teeth yesterday before I heard the warning. I wonder how many baby bottles were made with that icky water before anyone heard? They said the water is particularly dangerous for infants. There are over 50,000 wells in Iowa, every single one of them is polluted with farm chemical run off.Sunday, August 16, 2009
Our city water

Pat - what is causing the mains to break? Is this a heat related issue?
they're probably old like my city's water mains....most mains around here are 100+ years old.....we have a big city though....
your down should have a 'don't drink the water' festival!
Sometimes we have a boil water advisory, but I have never seen it as bad as you guys have it.
The system is old, most of the mains are 100 years old. The town has no money and any state money they get is used for stupid things the big wigs want in their neighborhoods.
Oh ick! ICK ICK ICK!
That's terrible. Drink bottled water until the city fixes the problem.
we are on a well on a farm in Indiana. I dont think about it much, I can't. The farmer that farms here once got that anhydrous crap on his face. It caused a spot that wouldnt go away. It got larger and just took over. It became cancer right away! He dies pretty quick from it. And thats the same shit we have in our water. Hopefully, the ground filters most of it out and the rains too, we have lots of rain. Its not good. You make me wanna invest in a Brita filter for my kitchen. I once saw dead animals & dead birds in a water tower picture some reporter took in a small town about 10 miles away from us. People cooking with & drinking and bathing with water that has dead birds & animals in it. I guess it finally got fixed. So disgusting. If the Romans can have good water about a million years ago, why can't we???

I know. It makes me so mad. I never drink this water anyway, it never passes tests. But, now I'm boiling distilled water just to wash dishes. It's so irritating and expensive.
Gawd that is expensive. I guess you could be like those old people I wrote about on here one time. The old lady would save her dishwater for weeks at a time, only heating it up to use it and saving it again. Over & over! How nasty is that? LOL...I KNOW you woulndt do that. The ass-stink from that cesspool literally made me vomit. Slimy shit dishrag stinking up the entire county. I am really weird about odors. Makes my family crazy. I am 1/2 deaf, so I think my sense of smell has stepped up a notch to compensate.
