Puddles and drains

Lissa kept saying she was playing in "petals." I said, no, hon, it's puddles, petals grow on flowers and puddles are water. She kept repeating that until she got it right. I thought it was good, she likes to learn words. She finally lost her balance and just ended up sitting in one in front of Tuwella's house and my Mom's crazy friend, Pin pulled up. Pin said "You no sit in petals! Water dragon gone get you!" Sigh.

There's a storm drain big enough for cats, dogs and kids. We have three of these in Guntown, open like this. They drop straight down about 15 feet and when it rains the water is very deep. I want them grated, like in the nicer sections of town, but, no luck so far. It makes me angry.

Oh ewe!!
Why does shit like this happen in the dead of winter, or the worst part of summer?
Remember when the power went out in the entire eastern part of the U.S. a fews tears ago? I'm pretty sure it was August. We slept outside in the sun porch on top of the hot tub cover. The electricity was out for 4 or 5 days and the main water got contaminated from the lack of electricity in the sanitation system. So what do they do? Yup, dump in in the lake! They wouldn't even let boats on it for the rest of the summer.
Fucking geniuses.

Unfortunately, poor people do not matter to elected officials and will never matter until they vote regularly. Why do you think old people have so much clout? It isn't because they are valued by politicians. It's because they vote on everything.

In that east coast power outage - remember the pictures of all the people in NYC walking to the ferries because the trains & subways were out? My kid was stuck in that crowd of thousands. Left her studio at 4pm when the power went out and didn't make it back to Philly until 3am. Wasn't able to get a train in NJ until midnight. Not one of her fonder memories of working in the big city.

Gawd, when I was Lissa's age someone told me that if we didnt wear shoes in the puddles that the worms would get in our feet. I never wore a shoe in the summer. You kiddin' me?! NEVER!!! To this day I still think of the worms in the water puddles from the rain and think about them getting in our feet! LOL...why would a kid need shoes in the summer? No way. But my kids would never do that. People are so wimpy and cautious nowdays! haha

People tell kids the stupidest shit and kids believe it and it causes phobias and haunts them. I hate those stupid stories they tell. No water dragons here.

I love how she is so outdoorsy and uses her imagination. Does she start Kindergarten and is she looking forward to it?

Do they have 1/2 day Kindergarten there or a couple of full days?
