Rotterdam Zoo, Netherlands, a baby on a water lily pad, the plant is called Victoria Amazonica and the zoo had a picture taking event for parents and babies. The plant can hold 33 pound, but, that's probably on the side of caution, I think they'd hold a lot more. It used to be popular for rich Victorian ladies to get their photo done on one of these things. I wouldn't leave my baby on it, that would freak me out. Did you ever notice them in The Wizard Of Oz? Yep, they're in the Munchkin town scene. Oz used a lot of real stuff in that movie.

Pat,
I sent you an email with a lot of pics. Probably too many...I don't want to waste your time. You don't need to email me back. I just wanted to share with you cause I know you are an artist. The last pic is a painting I made for my daughter.
The Netherlands has never shied away from their love of green plants! LOL
That baby looks Freaked out!
I've watched the Wizard of Oz a million times and never realized what I was looking at. That thing is incredible! I agree, I wouldn't put a baby on it.
they don't look real...they look like metal made lily pads...
I remember learning about those years ago in Bio class and being amazed - love the pics!
Freaky Plant. It almost looks like biohazard plant that will eat everything. I really don't think I would let my daughter sit on that.
I looked freaked when I saw the baby on it, FollowMeDown!!!
