I am so tired of hearing apologies for this. Why can't Obama call Kanye a jackass? I don't understand why this is a big deal. Is our President the only one in our country who can't say what he thinks? How unfair.

It's not that he shouldn't say what he thinks but he shouldn't comment on petty things like Kanye. And if Obama really wants to talk about something stupid then he should do it amongst his family and friends so it doesn't leak to the media. That way it won't look like he is spending more time being concerned about the garbage that celebs say and less time on important issues at hand like the two wars and health care.
Obama has every right to say what he thinks. He has an opinion. Obama is approachable and that is what is so calming to know that we have a president who is “part of the people” and not above them. Obama does not scare people with his psychotic beliefs. Bush and Cheney worried people because their beliefs were evil and they wanted to literally control the world. Obama is concerned with issues here, it is just going to take him years to clean up Bush and Cheney's mess. It’s called free speech and Kanye is a jackass.
I don't think anyone could get away with accusing Obama of being more concerned about celebs than his job. He is aggressively pushing something that is next to impossible to sell, and he's taking the time to address people directly rather than doing everything from staged, overly-protocoled White House press room. I don't think he gave a rat's ass if Kanye found out he called him a jackass. He lives in the world too, and by demonstrating a knowledge of what everyone is buzzing about, he shows that he is conversant with the people, part of the people. Bush didn't read, he went to bed at 9:30. He was willfully ignorant. That's the worst way to be.
I agree with Naseem. Although I approve of, and care about, President Obama I do think he should be above petty celebrity gossip. Yes, I expect more out of him than I do myself but I freely admit I'd make a terrible President.
Now we know Lyndon Johnson called people straight up sonsabitches & MF'ers. Thats a fact. Why do we care if the prez thinks a jackass is really a jackass? It's just the truth. Too much media invasion nowdays. rox
The President was having general idle conversation before an interview and while doing the just talking thing the person conversing with the president said so did you and your family watch the vma's, what did the girls think about what kanye did, to which the president answered they thought it was rude, another party asked him what he thought of kanye's action to which he stated he was a jackass and laughed about it even went as far as saying hey cut me some slack I have alot of other issues on my plate....I have to agree with Pres. Obama--Kanye is a jackass for what he did and not only the president thinks this, at this point and what is being said about kanye, being called a jackass isn't that bad and Kanye himself although egotistical could probably let out a bray when he looks at himself in the mirror.
I don't see a damn thing wrong with what he said. Yes there are more important things in this world but this was just a casual conversation. I think I call at least 1 person a jackass a day in my casual conversations, thankfully mine are not taped. He did not bring it up the interviewer did while they were waiting for the interview set up. It is not like he said "Hey did you hear about Kanye?". Meh tis no big deal in my opinion.
Obama did not bring it up the news reporter did, so why are you making such big deal about it Naseem I mean it's really not that big of a matter maybe you should check out the clip at TheMovementRadio.com it shows on there the clip of obama saying what he said check it out.
I agree with Obama! Kanye IS a jackass! I'm sick of people making excuses for Kanye's rude behavior.
I don't see what's so terrible about Obama commenting on Kanye. Kanye's been all over the news. It's not like Obama said "I really didn't like the dress Lady Gaga wore" or something, that would be totally out of left field and strange. As for the president having better things to do-the guy made ONE comment. It's not like he held a press conference to talk about Kanye West.
Naseem and Tonya, the PResident has two young daughter's, like mine, he is a parent, and I am darn sure his girls hear about these things and talk to their parents about it, who just happen to be the PResident and first lady! So if some jackass reporter asks him an offline question about something he probably had a talk about with his girl, there is nothing wrong with it!! he was a father and a humanbeing before he became the President of the USA!
And calling Kanye a "jackass" is about a sugar-coated as the man could get. How about ARROGANT, SELF-ABSORBED, WHINY, CRY-BABY, PIECE OF SHIT HUMAN BEING??

Here here, Bored and anon!
I think you're all right. I suck. At least I'm not Kanye.
He should be allowed to be, and be seen to be the well-rounded man he is.
I think the US's luck is finally turning around...

That was the first time that I've agreed with everything he said!!!
Now, since he ruffled some feathers, let's see how fast he can bsck peddle!
Why shouldn't he talk about celebs? They played a large part in his election!
