Guess who's back?

And you know I took pictures all through it. I said, you'd better be nice to me, I have a blog. LOL. As soon as I was loaded on the gurney and hit ER those nurses surrounded me like a hive of wonderful smart bees. They're were at least half a dozen of them and they said things like "full code, nitro, stat!" And a lot of other things I didn't understand. But, they did their thing and I knew I was in great hands. I didn't see a doctor for hours and who cares? Those frickin' nurses knew what to do. They not only saved me, they saved my brain. That's right, the trolls will be sorry to hear, there is no brain bleed and no brain damage.
*
Our hospital is old and small and crummy and the doctors (who gave me five minutes of their time) are questionable, but, man, I would put my life in the hands of our nurses any time. Besides being efficient and knowing every medical thing possible, they are damn funny too. They were all House fans and after they stopped the pain, I had the best damn time in the ER. I laughed so hard I was worried I'd pee on the stretcher. What a bunch of great gals.
*
A big semi (remember my dream?) came down from Omaha and parked outside. They wheeled me out in the cold. It was 6 degrees below zero! And inside the semi was a CAT scanner an MRI and every other kind of machine you can imagine. And I have my own copies of all the scans in my purse. They decided I was stable enough to leave the Intensive Care Unit this afternoon. I will get the results by Monday and I have an appointment with a specialist. So, finally, I will find out what's causing these problems. There is no way to look good in ICU when you're having a stroke, even a small one, so I don't care. There I am and I look better today, trust me. I feel a whole hell of a lot better too.
*
I got a stack of emails brought by the nurses today in ICU and some of them were for Dirty Disher..OMG, you guys, I laughed my ass off. Thank you all so much for the phone calls, flowers, emails and all the awesome comments. I went three days without a smoke with no prob, but, I was jonesing for the computer so bad I tried to log into the heart monitor..LMAO! Thank you, you guys are the best.

I'm doing a little "Dirty Disher" dance!
Did you "feel us" at noon??

I'm hoping some of the vibes trickled over to my mom. She's in surgery now.

God bless you, Pat! I'm so glad to hear you are in good hands and feeling better.
It's the well-known secret of health care, that the nurses do pretty much everything and the doctors breeze through and get a lot of the credit. I'm glad you had good ones with a sense of humor.
I'm thrilled to see your pictures, and hope that your recovery is quick and easy from here on.

Oh Pat, it is so good to see you back. We were all so worried. I guess there really is a Santa Claus because he answered the wish I put out at noon today. I do hope everything turns out ok. It's great to see you back!

My son is an ICU nurse and I know they do more lifesaving than most of the doctors and they know more too.

Glad you are out Pat! I am glad you are now going to get some answers. I also sent a package for you to Casey's address. I am also glad you had great nurses. A good nurse is worth their weight in gold. Take care of yourself and if you need anything please ask!

Dirty Disher said...

Crabbie, stroke. My blood pressure was about to explode my heart and brain. I don't have high blood pressure, but, as of now I am on some heavy duty meds to make sure I don't stroke out again and hopefully the specialist will figure out what's causing this. And I have had all the tests now. It hurt, I'll tell you that.

Dirty Disher said...

Nissa, I don't need a thing really. And you can write to me to get my addy if you need it. It's sure not a secret..lol.

I'm so sorry you had a stroke Pat, mild or not - but I'm SO DAMN GLAD you are okay and not brain-damaged! I'll keep being the brain-damaged one if that's all right with everyone, we need our DD in good shape to keep our asses in line!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and here's hoping for a very merry Yule, from one Pagan to another.

**hugs, kisses and Best Wishes from Canada**

PS you look damn good for being in the hospital, better than me on my best day. :)

DD,

I'm so glad you're OK. You have a LOT of people who care about you. And a couple of trolls here and there just show that you've got something intelligent to say. If you don't offend somebody then you really aren't saying anything important.

I agree 100% with your assessment of nurses. Doctors, who needs 'em? I used to go to a health clinic years ago run entirely by nurses and LOVED it. When I was behind on a pap test they called and nagged me to get it done. When I lied and said my car had broke down one even offered to come and get me!!!

I have a feeling that things are going to change with you and I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad about that.

Surgery over! Thank you all, for your good vibes.

Doctor came out smiling (brother, a poker player, said it was a sincere, confident smile). The tumor was gigantic and pressing against all her organs. They treat it as malignant, even though these type of tumors are usually benign, so they remove all the surrounding cells and tissue too. It was Laproscopic, so she only has 3 little incisions.

Now I need to talk to her and hear her voice and all will be great with the world.

Thanks again, everybody. Dishers ROCK!

As happy as I am that you are home, I hope that you are able to rest. I usually suggest that my patients stay in hospital as long as possible, because, although people are more comfortable in their own beds, once you go home---you're kind-of back on the job. Cooking, doing things around the house, etc., and I know your mom is next door. I hope you are able to relax and not worry about what she might do, or overdo in any other way. I just hope you're given peace, and rest and the chance to recover well.

Ok I'm finally home, and on the puter. Pat I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SOOOOO HAPPY you are back!!!! I was getting out of the post office when I decided to check on my blackberry if there were any news, since in the morning I had been refreshing that page like crazy!!! But I had to finally turn it off and go. I sent you a little something with a card that hopefully will make you laugh, signed by me and the hubs and the kitties. I have been thinking about you like crazy, last night the thought of you wouldn't leave my head and I even dreamed I saw you. I woke up to fix hubs' lunch and went back to bed and there you still were in my dreams. Don't ask me what I saw, I don't remember, but you just were there stuck in the back of my mind and it was very strong.

I was really worried about you cause three years ago my MIL had a stroke that almost took her. 5 weeks total in the hospital, that's 2 in the ICU and 3 in rehab. That was extremely hard on us, I could not do anything without breaking down, I love that old lady like I do my own mother, so I know what Casey must have felt these past few days. I was just about to get my drivers license at the time and got it just when she was transferred to a regular room. I brought her home from the hospital myself, it was the best thing I have done ever since I learned to drive. She's back to her goofy self now, thankfully. She's 85.

Snarkie pooh, I'm so glad your mom is doing well too. So happy for you and for Casey to have their moms all well.

Ok now I'm off to make din dins, we're having tacos, and then I will be going to my weekly troupe practice.

I hope you don't have to get belly shots like my MIL did! Are you on blood thinners (rat poison!)?

my9cats aka syl said...

Pat, you are so funny.

Haven't heard from DD in a couple hours and that got me to thinking:

What if her mother has decided to take care of her? Think about it, that psychotic little gnome isn't going to leave her baby all by herself after having a stroke! She'll want to mother her!!! Oh, I have goosebumps thinking about it. I hope you're OK, Pat and aren't being cared for by the littlest psycho!

Today's List of Thoughts!

1. You can't keep a good "Broad"
down.
2. Some people will do anything
to get out of "old lady
"Tuesday".
3. If your mom bring chicken soup--
DON'T EAT IT!
4. Crabbie has a soul.
5. Don't recue any more dogs in 2
feet of snow.
6. You have a good daughter.
7. Does Lissa know?
8. I realized how great nurses are
when I saw one put a catheter in
my husband and 3 little "tiny"
nurses moved him from a gurney
to a bed and didn't break a
sweat.
9. I've been really lucky with drs.
There is 1 crazy one, but I
don't have to fool with him.
10.I didn't have a class at noon
and was able to just sit and
"vibe".
11. Don't do that again--we all had
DD withdrawls! I'm very
selfish about that.
12.Sit and hold BeeBee for a while.
13.Take it easy and rest!
14.It's great to have you back!
