Hospital ghost hunting

An anomaly outside room 208 there. It's not a reflection, I checked. It's the only strange pic I got, but, boy did I see things! After some of the staff recognised me, they did not want to put me in room 208 which is known as "the bad room"and "death room", but, it was closest to the nurses station and I needed all the help I could get that first night. When it became known who I was, the staff opened up and we had some ghost hunting adventures. The stories about our old hospital came pouring in and these women were credible. They are smart professional women and they were glad to have someone confirm what they already knew. I saw two spirits in the x-ray department. It's scary down there, it's old and crummy and dark and you are never alone. I saw a former medical person who was just downright scary and I'm convinced that one is the one who is frightening the night shift. I also saw a small woman in a pink turban down there. She looked like someone from the 1930's and was very intense..curious, but, not friendly. I saw nothing in room 208, which surprised them. I heard things though and felt a presence, but, it was comforting. I do not like that x-ray wing. At all! The basement is a former antique morgue and the nurses told me it's now a storage area and they're afraid down there. It's near x-ray. They wanted to take me down to see it, but, by that time I was really tired, so I passed. But, I believe them. I hope none of them go down there alone. Anyhow, ghost hunting in a wheel chair was good for passing time and I was surprised at the help I got. Nurses are a blast.

So glad you found some good experiences and people at that old hospital. It is bound to have souls floating around you know the history in room 208 long and begging not to be lost. Aren't there plans to build new facility? Wonder if there are any plans for that big old place? Wonder if the care taking spirits will move?

There are plans, but, it's Bumfuck so, you know how that goes. It's a real dump. I didn't even have a sink in my room, much less a bathroom.

so glad you had such wonderful nurses!!! and had some ghost hunting during your stay!

They were really fun and they weren't neglecting their duties. It's a real small hospital. Not many patients in there.

Pat,
It's really good of you to speak so highly of the nurses. I've been an ICU nurse for 15 years and it means so much when people recognize the good RNs out there. They will never forget you because having patients like you is a joy.
Well, your small town may suck, but you have good nurses!
Nurses always have the best paranormal stories too. When you deal with life and death, it's palpable if you are sensitive to it.

Sprite, I didn't know you were a nurse, too.
Interesting stories, Pat. I'm amazed at the detail you see when you see these spirits. I have only seen a lot of detail on the one guy at our house, and that was so creepy, I really hope to never see him again.
I wonder why they felt the way they did about room 208? Is there a spirit that is often there, but wasn't when you happened to be there? If they feel it, you would think there is something present.

Sprite I have respect for them, they deserve it.

Dirty Disher said...

Christina, I usually hear them, I don't often see them, so this was pretty cool. And they said everyone has nightmares in 208 and they hate the room. I found the spirit in there to be a sweet comforting presence.

No Bathroom or sink? Geez. Amazing.

I'm so intrigued by your gift DD please tell us
another ghost story if u can. Kiki :)

Pat, you hear them? What do they sound like? I hear things late at night in this house, but I always tell myself it's just things shifting, or maybe an occasional mouse. (It is an old house, with cracks here and there.) In the evenings, after everyone else has gone to bed, I run the TV so I don't hear much else. When my labor room is dark (at the hospital), I don't find myself feeling fearful. Just here.
Of course, when I go to any haunted house or amusement park "haunted" area, I'm always the person in the group that has some sort of silent monster following me out of the ride, etc. Last spring, the guy was HUGE and literally two or three inches behind me. Deadly silent. Scared the crap out of me. I don't think I actually wet my pants, but I thought I would. So maybe experiences like that play into how I perceive noises, etc. at home. I don't know.

Last week somebody posted about feeling "beings" run past her when she let her cat in.

Of course, I rolled my eyes and thought, "yeah, right."

HOWEVER, when I was falling asleep that night I felt an animal jump on my bed. We don't have any animals. Since I was in that "almost sleep" state, I remembered that this happens every night. I didn't remember in my "waking state" until after reading that post and it happening.

Could this be a doggie I lost many years ago? Cool, huh?

i used to live in a old house in Patzcuaro with a lot of history. Every night when I turned off the bedroom lights the center of the room would become intensely dark, really impenetrable. The dark had a "blob shape" It scared me because I had my young children with me.

I put up with it, uneasily, for a while. Was it watching, protecting, threatening? I decided I felt threatened just having that thing in my space. I was afraid even to get up and go to the bathroom.

I asked it to go away. No result. So i asked my soon to be x hubby-who slept elsewhere-to deal with it. He could be very intimidating. He yelled "get the hell out and never come back or deal with the consequences". I guess he meant a good squirt with his bottle of Holy Water.

That thing evaporated instantly!! spooky!!My stepson who slept downstairs swore that a spirit with "glowing green eyes" followed him around at night. That was a cool house, orchard and everything, but i was so relieved when i moved out.

Christina, I hear them two ways. Sometimes it is external and sounds just like a living person next to me. Most of the time I hear them in my head. I tell my clients what they're saying and they confirm. That's how I know it's real. I also get images in my head when it happens and I am able to help a client get the message with just images. Here's an example "This is a man, he was old when he passed, he had heart trouble, he smells like wood or sawdust." The client will recognize their grandfather the carpenter, and we go from there. But, a lot of times it's an external voice.

Dirty Disher said...

But, sometimes it's just BLATENT. Like the ghost who told me my client was "looking for Manuel." And the client had not spoken to me yet (and I'd never met him). And I said, Manuel is here and he's fine. It was his dad and that's why he came in. He started to cry. It was very cool. It's a good feeling to give people some peace.

Snarkie, you just tell yourself it was the cat. Cats aren't scary. It was a cat, just a cat, say that over and over. LOL.

Dirty Disher said...

i can B..ahh the dreaded shadow people. They are a seperate category and you can google it and find many people who've seen them. They can be intimidating. But, they usually aren't harmful.

I think it was a dog. I wasn't scared at all.
Almost comforted.

14 years ago my roommate had the most awesome Corgie. That dog and I bonded and it was MY dog (but belonged to her). After 3 years she finally said, "FINE, Sheila is YOUR DOG!!" and she went to the pound and got herself another dog.

To "introduce" the dogs it was recommended that she take them to a neutral area. Not being willing to wait for me, she took her new dog and her friend took Sheila to the park. Her friend, a brilliant ass, I might add, let Sheila out of the car, in traffic, in a strange area, without a fucking leash. Sheila ran to my roommate (because she didn't know Charlie) and got hit by a car. She was MY dog for a total of 2 days.

Noelle, seriously, communal bathroom in the hall. No shower or bathtub. My radiator was rusted out and stuck on high. The window was broken. Holes in the walls. Just awful. And this great staff who had to make do in that dump.

Pat what you hear and see amazes me. That it doesn't seem to bother you is equally amazing. I admit to being frightened by the noises and things I see (for the most part).
I had a very sweet experience years ago. I think you would think it was sweet and I know this person/spirit loved me a great deal, but I can't help but be frightened of it anyway.
I had moved back to our little family farm---the house had been built probably in the 'teens. One night I went to my tiny room, and went to bed, turned the lights out and pulled the covers up around my neck. I was lying slightly on my side, when I felt something in the room. Then there was movement I could feel. My eyes were closed and I was pretty rigid with fear/anxiety. I felt that someone had crouched down by the upper end of my bed, and at the same time, laid their head on my upper right chest, with their arms up in an embrace around my neck. I felt this presence for some very long minutes. I gradually felt it melt away, until all I could feel was the imprint in the covers where it had been. A few moments after that, I was brave enough to reach up and turn on the light, but of course there was nothing to see. I still remember the feeling of that embrace--I felt the love from that person/spirit, but don't know who it was. I assumed it was my grandmother Anna, who died when my dad was very young. I use that name on Moon's site to honor my grandmother as for some reason I have always felt a closeness to her, but I really don't know if it was Anna or not. It's hard for me to get past the fear.
I have a lot of respect for anyone who can deal with spirits or the unknown and not be overcome with anxiety.

It sounds like the hospital you were in needs to build a new site and raze the old one. Keep nothing but the nurses.

DD I grew up in downtown Toronto and in my
olde house my neighbour was able to hear the dead
he considered himself a clairvoyant. Sometimes
he would even see things just by touching
an item that belonged to the person. We had
a kid go missing and the police asked him to
work on and help out with the case. I was
only about 9 when this happened so I don't
Recall the outcome. However it was the topic
of the summer.

Very cool experience Pat. Thanks for sharing. I'm so glad you had cool nurses. Nothing can make a unexpected hospital suck more than bitchy nurses.

Snark...OMG....That's terrible. What numbnuts!

Dirty Disher said...

Snark, that is the most hearbreaking dog story I've ever heard. Fucking fuck. Man!

Dirty Disher said...

Kiki, I have worked with the police in other towns, but, never any big cases.

Dirty Disher said...

Well, I worked on a multiple murder case in Arizona once, it was pretty famous, but, I was working with victims family that time, not police.

Interesting. I guess I didn't look at it very closely before, but it looks as though the anomaly has a face.

I read about shadow people. Thanks DD for solving the mystery! So I'm not crazy...and not the only one who has seen them.

I am NOT looking forward to my next encounter.

Dirty Disher said...

No. You are not crazy. Many credible people have met the shadow people.
