It's Christmas Eve!

The lights will be blazing to light the reindeer's way as children everywhere wait for......SANTAAAAA! It's all so exciting. I went overboard for Lis, I forgot all the stuff I've been hiding for months and when I wrapped it all, it looked..well, ridiculous. So, I put some games and crafts back for next weeks visit. I'll tell her Santa just hid them really well. Gawd. I happen to know her parents were very good to her this year, so I don't know what I was thinking. I just get excited too, I guess. I hope all your kids are excited and happy about this wonderful night too and I hope everyone manages to get all the bikes and trikes put together and have no parts leftover. And I hope you have enough batteries, and I hope you don't go postal from all the screws and binds in the toy packages! Talk about anything you want on this post...merry merry merry Christmas eve!

Is anyone tracking Santa? There's a site you can go to called Norad Santa Tracker. My kids keep looking to see where he is. Everyone have a Merry Christmas! I still have to wrap gifts for 3 boys tonight!

Merry Christmas Eve to you all, too!

Presents are wrapped and have been mailed, the rest are loaded in the car for the trip tomorrow. List is checked but continues to get longer as the day goes on. We have no little ones in the family but the excitement to be with loving family and friends for the holiday is there just the same.

Best wishes to everyone for safe travels, good health, and for a wonderful holiday with family and friends.

Alyssa, that site is cute. It has a naughty or nice gage..lol.

Travel safe, Steph.

Hmmm. . .I did get to be on call today, so I guess at some point I will wrap presents. Not sure I'm done shopping, though. It's going to be a "see how things go" kind of Christmas Eve. I don't know if my FIL will remain in hospice, or come home. He is fooling us, again.
Hope everyone has a great one, is with family and friends, and gets at least one thing they absolutely love.

I hope you and Lis have a wonderful Christmas DD.
I saw the weather report that you guys may be getting more snow?? I'm glad it's you and not me. It's sunny, but cold here in SC. It's currently 41, but supposed to get up to 57.

Palm, it's doing something out there, but, it looks like ice. It's one cold Christmas eve here. Have a good one!

Christina, it sounds like FIl is better. Yay! Merry holiday.

One thing I miss about my country is the Christmas Eve dinner. That's when we'd get together with family and friends, usually late at night. My mom and I would dress up and do the rounds starting at 7pm visiting people we love, some years we would go to the 10 pm church service, then end up where we would have Christmas dinner whether at home or at family's (usually my grandparents). It is a custom to have dinner right at midnight to welcome Christmas, and we exchange presents after dinner. Yes, it's one of the two times of the year when kids are allowed to stay up late. We don't wait for Santa till morning. And that's when we have our turkey, and we make a sweet and salty stuffing that's always the star of our dinners. We also have a midnight dinner on New Year's eve but that's another story. Oh and most people work half day, and retail stores are open till midnight on Christmas Eve. Talk about last minute shopping!

I miss that so much, I miss my parents and miss the family time we used to have together. I wish I could recreate that late/early Christmas dinner, but my husband is usually ready for bed at 10 and my in-laws are in bed by 8:30....

I'm gonna make stew in the crock pot tomorrow, and will probably bake something for us.

My best friend got in last night and is staying 10 days. I'm letting her sleep in for another half hour...then waking her ass up to drag her out for last minute shopping. I'm hoping to be back in front of the fire by late afternoon. Audrey is beside herself with excitement and it's only gonna build as the day goes on. Merry Christmas DD, Lissa and everyone here.

The glow of incandescent lights does it for me. LED lights bite. So cold. Captain Kitchen is off to her workshop to roll out and bake the gingerbread she made last night. The place is going to smell like heaven.

Since this is an open post, I'd like to send warm thoughts to any and all who are spending the holidays alone. This is a hard time for those by themselves and I want to wish Happy Holidays to anyone who is celebrating by themselves.

Thanks, Pat! Yes, FIL is better. Actually so much so that they are discharging him from hospice again, and he will go home today, despite all my MIL's objections. I know it must be difficult to care for him, but my husband goes over there to help, and when he does, she often leaves. I think she is just not able to handle any of this.
I am pretty "go with the flow" but this is very hard on my husband. Throwing lots of PVC's again this morning.
I am on call today, though, and it looks like I most likely won't be called in, so I am working up some Christmas spirit, and going to go out shopping for my husband, and take my son along.
Merry Christmas to everyone!!! Especially you, Pat. Have a great, peaceful, and restful holiday.

I just wanted to say Merry Christmas et al! Substitute whatever you celebrate for Christmas! I also wanted to say thank you to DD and all of her readers for sending out positive thoughts and energy when I needed it. 2009 has dealt a kid with cancer and the same kid almost dying in a car accident. It has definitely been a lesson in hope and I cannot say I am not glad that 2009 will soon be behind us. I wish you all a fabulous 2010 and may it bring better things for all of us!

Happy Christmas Eve to All. Wrapping is done and kids are happy, peaceful and making art, listening to carols. All is good in the world for me right now. Hope it is for you all as well.

Just posted my comment and then saw the previous one - Valle, I am very sorry and would be bloody mad as hell too.

You are lucky to have your children to remind you of the joys you have in your life.

awww Pat - you're an awesome Grandma!!! Make sure to tell Lis how many cookies (or Jello?) Santa ate when he stopped by.

Best wishes to all and prayers to those serving our country and others far away from home.
