David and Christine Nasser knew George would get big when they adopted him as a puppy, but, they had no idea how big. They are now awaiting confirmation from Guinness World Records to see if he really is the tallest dog in the world. George, the gentle giant, weighs 245lbs and measures 43 inches tall from paw to shoulder. For real. And he sleeps in his own queen sized bed. He lives in Tucson, Arizona. He's beautiful, but, I hope they have a BIG pooper scooper. Maybe they just use a back hoe.

I thot it was p-shopped too! I love him. He's a big nice boy! He looks like a sweety pie too. He was adopted so do they know his breed? He looks like a purebred dog. He looks like a dog a King would have. Royalty. He's amazing and beautiful. I love this.

Mouse would hate having him around. Although, he's always looking for a warm snugglie place to sleep due to his chronic exhaustion. He might just like having a big warm friend with large jowls to curl up in.
He's a blue Geat Dane, but, he was adopted.
I think I have it bad with my Rottie taking my side of the bed. I would need a whole other bed for that big boy. He is a gorgeous dog. He sits so regal.
ahhhh, George is beautiful. Don't see many Dane's that color. Looks like a gentle giant couch potato.

If you feed your dog holistic kibble and people feed (meat and veggies) their poops aren't that big. It's the corn filler in ALL grocery store dog food that makes the poops so gross. Ever seen a dog grazing in a corn field? I could talk forever about about dog nutrition.

And I've seen my own dogs eating in cornfields many times. They love munching dried corn the combine left. And my crazy fat dogs were raised on steak (waitress here). But, it pisses me off to think that's all expensive dog food is.
Because corn is not nutritious.
Escrow ~ you are right! My kid switched her dog to the all raw diet several years ago. All the pup eats now is raw meat w/ the bones and veggies. She did a lot of research first to make sure the pup would be getting all the vitamins and minerals needed. At Thanksgiving I cooked a turkey breast. It had the back attached, we cut it off before cooking. She was one happy furball when we put that in her dish. And the presents she leaves in my yard are tiny now compared to when she was on kibble.

I see that sweet dog and all I can think about is the poop. Huge poop. Poop that could probably get up and walk away.
We are planning on a dog in the future and I always say, "big dog, big poop, little dog, little poop."
CJ-I did alot of research on this subject including the BARF diet. I just couldn't get past the small chicken bones on the true BARF diet. I'm glad it works for your kid. If anyone here gets bored go google "foods dogs die for" and read about how bad the dog food industry really is. There was no such industry before the USDA came into play. Purina and the food producers needed to sell all the corn that was rejected by the USDA mostly because of mold contamination and ta dah a new pet food industry was born. Dogs always ate from the table before that. OK, I'll shut up now.

Ho-lee crap is right!!! I had to Google George with my kids, that dog is unreal. The article said he eats 110lbs of food every month...I can't imagine. I hope he's a healthy guy, seems like that sort of growth issue in a human brings on all sorts of health problems.
DD, can I ask you a gardening question? We saved our pumpkin seeds from Halloween, and I'm thinking of starting them indoors soon, as I can't plant outside until the end of May. Any tips for me? I know I can Google this stuff, but I'd rather hear it from someone that has some gardening experience!! Help??
Kylies mom, I'm assuming you're in a cold place. I know this, garden plants will straggle if they're started to soon without inside grow lights. So, start your seed no more than 6 weeks before the planting season and you should be good. Punkin's take a long time to germinate, so starting them is a plus.
Escrow ~ Not sure if she follows the barf diet. She kinda made up her own version. She runs all over Philly and S Jersey buying different meats for her pup. Cow organs from a farmer/butcher in NJ, Chinese market for duck, somewhere else for rabbit. Funny thing, the dog is allergic to chicken. Dog was started slowly with the bones to get used to chewing. At Thanksgiving she was given part of a rabbit for dinner... crunch, crunch, crunch. Uncooked bones don't hurt them. She runs the veggies thru the food processor, otherwise they come out the other (dog) end whole.
That dog is gorgeous! What exactly is the barf diet? Is it something that needs to be started as a puppy or can you put an adult dog on it?
BARF-bones and raw food. You can switch and adult dog to that diet but you would need to do it slowly. There's lots of info on the internet.

That's not a dog, its a horse! I cant believe how huge he is! Not to sound morbid but once he passes, wonder where they'll burry him?

when my Chi, Perla got sick a few months ago, I had to put her on a bland diet of chicken and rice. Every other day she gets chicken and rice. The other days she gets Nutro dry food with a pinch of cheddar cheese.
I think I will try to look for the hollistic kibble.
When she eats the chicken and rice..no stinky poops.
Heidi, I bet Perla doesn't think thats a bland diet AT ALL :) She like herself some chicken and rice. Do you use brown rice? Bet she'd lap up some of that tofu stuff your oldest eats :) I use Wellness kibble but there's lots of good brands out there and you can't buy them at the grocery store. main points to look for are human grade food as ingredients, baked not extruded, no preservatives other than vitaman E. The number 1 ingredient must be meat and if it followed by a meat meal that ok. Wellness contain blueberries and sweet potatoes which are super foods and contain mega antioxidents. I give my dogs sweeet potaoes and bluberries by themselves when I can afford to splurge. They get yogurt and eggs too. I figure the extra I spend on really good food for them I will save on vet bills and extend their lives and save them from cancer which goldens and labs have a propensity for.

Holly Crap that dog is huge. I bet it thinks its a small little puppy. Gezz ava could ride that thing like a little horse. I wonder if it suffers from some kind of giant syndrome?
